  • EP12 - Chris Blair (Entrepreneur/Songwriter) - Conversations with Calcaterra
There is a place in downtown Nashville where people flock to hear the top country and pop songs from the songwriters who crafted them. This place is The Listening Room Cafe and the man who brought it downtown and who has worked tirelessly for the past 8 years is Chris Blair.
Chris moved from his native St. Louis to Nashville in 2002 to pursue his country music dream. He fronted his band for a few years before departing the stage for the songwriting room and along the way built what we now know The Listening Room Cafe. A few weeks before hitting the age of 40 he married his wife and now best friend Brittney whom he wrote the song "Waiting on Me" which appears in this episode.

  • EP11 - Ben Sturgell (Musician/Music Producer) - Coversations with Calcaterra
What does it sound like when a piece of an artists soul is on a record? We're not just talking one or two songs here but each and every song which paints a picture of that artist's journey. This is what you get when you listen to the album "Music Box" from artist/co-producer Ben Sturgell. With the guidance of Nashville legend Pino Squillace, Ben has crafted his signature album which looks to be the first of many and has taken a page from Pino's book and is helping less experienced musicians grow and build their careers.
This episode features a plethora of Ben's songs in which the full versions can be purchased at iTunes @ https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/music-box/id994931490

  • EP10 - Pino Squillace (Music Producer/Percussionist) - EXPLICIT - Conversations with Calcaterra
What does it feel like to have a higher purpose? Music producer and legendary percussionist Pino Squillace found music after nearly dying from a drug overdose. The Italian native realized music was his calling while in rehab in Florence Italy and the rest is history.
Nashville is now home for Pino and he has been busy developing his brand "The Other Side of 615," a sub-culture of the scene which he began developing while owning his coffee shop/music venue Cafe Milano. The famed Chet Atkins one of the pioneers of "Music City," who swayed the government from calling it "Country Music City" confirmed Pino's instincts for showcasing jazz and world beat musicians and to this day he continues on the path with their development in the studio and with their live performances.
    According to Pino there is only two types of music; good music and bad music. This episode of the podcast features excerpts of good music including;
Kevin Max - Last Night I Dreamt Somebody Loved Me
    Aubryn - Civil War
Danny Salazar - Reach the Sky
    Ben Sturgell - Carousel
    Aubryn - Number One Fan

  • EP09 - Star Wars Roundtable - (Themed)- EXPLICIT - Conversations with Calcaterra
The new Star Wars flick is breaking all sorts of records and Conversations with Calcaterra is as well with more profanity then any other episode thanks to artist Steven Walden and reviewer Jeff Ritter. It was all in good fun and this conversation like many other episodes is layered and deep at that. Also joined by audio guru Matthew Ryan Sims we discuss Kylo Ren as a signature villian, Why the "bad guys" always use a sphere shaped weapon and Jeff Ritter portrays Macho Man Randy Savage as Han Solo.

  • EP08 - David Carson (Photojournalist) Part Two - Conversations with Calcaterra
What was the experience of going into a Quiktrip while it was being looted just moments before being engulfed in flames? How about witnessing a man being shot and pulling him to safety when one's job is simply to capture the images of these occurrences. David Carson shares these stories and more in the second part of his conversation with Ken Calcaterra.

  • EP07 - David Carson (Photojournalist) Part One - Conversations with Calcaterra
What I admire the most about David Carson is his integrity along with his amazing creative eye. Giving a fair and balanced view of the world is not easy but David has accomplished this in both Afghanastan, Iraq and Fergurson along with photographing more than his fair share of murders in the city of St. Louis. The work hasn't gone unnoticed as he is a Pulitzer Prize winner as part of the photographic team of the St. Louis Post Dispatch for their coverage of Ferguson.
The photographs he makes are not all doom and gloom. He covers the world as he see's it and there is a lot of good that he's seen and he's reported as a journalist, utilizing photos to support the story.

  • EP06 - Steven Walden (Artist) - (Explicit) Conversations with Calcaterra
How many people just fall into art and are able to make a career painting...in less than a year. Steven Walden began painting when he took an art therapy class while working on a Masters Degree in counseling at Webster University. He received his degree in August of 2015 and hasn't had time to use it as he is too busy with commissions.
Ken and Steven discuss art as legacy, sports, time spent with Jon Hamm, social media and the benefits of therapy.
Steven has rendered images of pop-culture figures Superman, Batman, Elsa (Frozen) and Don Draper as well as sports heroes including Ozzie Smith, Adam Wainwright, Kurt Warner, Michael Jordan and Walter Payton.
