Conversations with Jeff

We are seeing a lot of parallels between the modern day church leaders and the religious leaders of the time of Jesus. Just as the Pharisees were propping themselves up and placing heavy burdens on their followers, we are seeing that happen today. Jesus led the original Reformation, exposing the false doctrine and legalism of the Jewish faith at that time. We need that to happen today.

Andy Woods is back for round 2! This time the conversation almost exclusively about Lordship Salvation and it’s impacts on the Gospel. The question is, is this doctrine Gospel truth or damnable heresy? While pastors like John MacArthur and other Calvinists push this teaching, Andy takes a look the biblical references that he uses to support his position on this. Then the question is posed: Is Lordship Salvation inspired by the Catholic Church or the Puritans? There is also a short discussion about the Shepherds Conference. Jeff Dornik and Andy dig deep into these topics. Although they disagree on some of it, it’s important to have these conversations and then go back and compare everything with the Bible.

Brannon Howse is back to discuss the apparent compromise that happened by John MacArthur on stage during the Shepherds Conference Q&A session. During that Q&A session, Phil Johnson was pressing Al Mohler, Mark Dever and Ligon Duncon regarding their embracing and promoting of Social Justice. Then Pastor MacArthur stepped in, stating that he was going to fight error, but not his friends. This then leads us into an exploration of his book Why Government Can’t Save You, discussing the vacuum that he created in calling off the conservative Christians from political involvement, thus allowing the progressives to take over within the church. We cover this issue in depth, so buckle up and get ready!

After a couple of Christian podcasters/bloggers make light of #MeToo and women being abused by telling an off color joke, the need to confront this issue head on is the topic of this podcast. Women are being abused, both in the secular world and within the church. As Christians, we need to take a stand to protect women and victims of abuse. Making light of abuse desensitizes us to the gravity of this situation. Yes, there are some made up stories for attention. But we cannot allow those bad apples to invalidate all of the legitimate claims of abuse. Ultimately, the message that we need to continue to preach is the Gospel, as only that has the power to truly save us.

We are seeing many of the same issues in the mainstream evangelical church today that we saw occurring leading up to the Reformation, as well as what was going on in Israel during Jesus' ministry. The religious leaders were trying to control and manipulate their congregations, using them to profit. Whether it's the selling of indulgences in the Catholic Church to selling animals to be sacrificed in the Temple or how the modern day conference circuit is setup, celebrity megachurch pastors are using their "ministry" for financial gain and to benefit themselves. This is not how ministry is supposed to be done. Thus, we need another Reformation.

Our guest for this Conversation is Paige Rogers. She is a writer and contributor at the NOQ Report, a Conservative News website. Recently, she wrote an investigative report on Pastor John MacArthur’s account of the night Martin Luther King Jr was assassinated. He’s repeatedly told the story of being in the NAACP office of Charles Evers along with John Perkins when he found out about the murder. He then shares how they drove up that night to Memphis to the crime scene, stood over the blood of MLK and got access to the crime scene where James Earl Ray took the shot from. However, during Paige’s investigation, she found numerous discrepancies with Pastor MacArthur’s story when compared to the testimony of Charles Evers, as well as FBI & Memphis Police reports. Jeff and Paige discuss these issues, as well as the response she’s gotten from the staffers of Pastor MacArthur.

During the debate over whether the Interfaith Dialogue between James White and Yasir Qadhi is Biblical or not, one of the claims made by many of Dr White's defenders was that the Gospel was clearly proclaimed during that two night event. During this episode of The GateKeepers Radio Show, which originally aired on the WorldView Weekend Radio Network, host Jeff Dornik asks where this crystal clear Gospel proclamation was. To date, no one has been able to point to where this mysterious presentation occurred.
