  • Valerie Harper aka Rhoda Morgenstern Talked To Me Today About The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Past Memories, and Lung Cancer
I was very excited and nervous to be talking to Miss Valerie today. I've always felt that in many ways the Mary Tyler Moore Show shaped my life. I saw Mary working in this very exciting world of TV(new to women at the time), she has this cool friend named Rhoda, you're both working women, single, with guy trouble, and no kids. And even as I teenager I remember thinking "That's the life I want!" And that's pretty much the life I got, and it's all and more than what I had hoped for.
Valerie Harper has a new book out, a memoir, called I, Rhoda. She takes us behind the scenes with Lou Grant, Ted Baxter, Georgia, Phyllis and Betty White's, Sue Ann Nivens. She also touched on her lung cancer and how it changed her. And if she isn't busy enough she also has a broadway show called "Looped" and you can see a clip from it on her website.
Valerie's website is www.ValerieHarper.com and has some fun video memories and you can learn about Valerie's vast body of work.

  • Heart Throb Michael Damian, On The Air, Talking The Young & The Restless and His New Hallmark Movie The Sweeter Side Of Life
This guy is the real deal. He was when I met him back in 1990 and he is now. I just answered the phone and hit the record button and the craziness began. He's fun, flirty, talented, and the movies he and his wife Janeen are making, well I just LOVE them;D They tell a warm story, a story of hope, enlightenment and positivity. His newest movie, The Sweeter Side Of Life, airs tomorrow, January 19th on the Hallmark Channel. And as Michael suggests, if you don't get the Hallmark Channel, call up some friends, find one who does get the Hallmark Channel, and make it a pizza and a movie night.
Today on the air with me Michael Damian talked about The Young & The Restless, of course. It was such a big part of growing up for so many of us in the 80's and 90's.
We talked about his music and his new song "Rock My Heart", that song can be heard in the Hallmark movie The Sweeter Side of Life premiering tomorrow, January 19th at 9pm ET on the Hallmark Channel.
And lastly, we talked about the movie, the message in the story and how funny it is when you realize things always happen for a reason. Look around you, maybe your life too is sweeter than you first may have thought...

  • Charlie Sheen's Anger Management Co-Star Shawnee Smith Talked To Me Today About Charlie And The Show On FX
It's on tonight on the FX Channel, Anger Management is the name of the show and it was just renewed for a solid two year run. Shawnee Smith may be most familiar to you from her movies and her role on Becker as Linda, the ditzy, zany, receptionist/nurse.
She is a hoot! It was a fun and crazy interview and she is a very light hearted girl, I dare you to try and keep up with the interview. It was difficult for me;) She has a page on Facebook but as she said in the interview she is more low key and private and kind of minds her own business.
Since this interview her Facebook page has been disabled.

I talked to Steve-O a while back about his battles with addiction and Jason Mewes was very generous with his time and shared with me a little bit about his own battles with demons.
Jason Mewes, is an actor, an entertainer and a naturally funny guy. His body of work includes Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma Jay, Silent Bob Strikes Back, The Last Godfather, and Money Shot. Most recently he has been touring with his best friend, writer & director, Kevin Smith of Jersey Girl fame, he has a web series on YouTube, a weekly podcast, and now a show on AXS TV, called AXS Live. (check your listings on DirectTV, Dish Network and U-Verse)
I think people who have lived, and survived, the kind of life that Jason has lived, can become better people for it. Jason is an example of that...

  • Blair Witch Project Actress Heather Donahue, Tells How At The Age Of 34 Her Life Literally Went To Pot (She Grows Marijuana For A Living)
Heather was so much fun to talk to today, and I really learned a lot about just what goes into growing quality medical marijuana. After dealing with a bit of a snafu on the phone line she shared with me memories about shooting The Blair Witch Project, other wild, and crazy adventures she has enjoyed, and why she is now known as the GrowGirl, also the name of her new book.
Yup, Heather Donahue has left Los Angeles, celebrity, and acting behind her. Her new career? She is the GrowGirl, she grows medical marijuana in Nuggettown, California, where it is always sunny and life is mellow. Growing medical marijuana is a business that is oftentimes dominated by men, but to hear her talk, it really is an entire subculture, that she and I believe is becoming more mainstream every day.
She lovingly calls her well taken care of marijuana plants, "The Girls", because all of the marijuana plants are female.
Heather also teaches "Memoir" classes? If you've ever wanted to write your own life story, this lady has the wisdom to teach you everything you need to know. I wanted to know what the biggest stumbling block was for people who have tried to write their own life story, and her answer may surprise you.

  • Dr. Jerry Argovitz Super Agent : The One Book The NFL & The NCAA Don't Want You To Read
Dentist turned Super Agent, Dr. Jerry Argovitz talked to me about all the behind the scenes negotiations and what really happens in Pro Sports, the NCAA, the NFL and everything in between. Jerry is the kind of guy who ruffles a lot of feathers. Years ago he started the USFL, the United States Football League, and also has the distinction of signing the #1 Draft Pick, Billy Sims to the FIRST Million Dollar Contract! Three years later Billy Sims sued Dr. Jerry Argovitz and the term "egregious conflict of interest" was coined. That contract that Sims signed with Argovitz, was deemed voidable.
Great read for sports fans, parents of children pursuing a professional sports career, and even teens who want to get a real look at the high stakes money and mind games involved in pro sports. It's not pretty....

  • Inspiration For Downton Abbey - Author Carol Wallace Talks about Her Book, To Marry An English Lord, Tales Of Wealth And Marriage And Sex And Snobbery
Jullian Fellowes, the creator of the wildly popular television program Downton Abbey, admits that at the time he was developing the show he was reading Carol Wallace's book "To Marry An English Lord Tales Of Wealth, And Marriage, And Sex And Snobbery". Easy to see how he was inspired by this read. Carol's book took me back to my collecting days when I had Victorian fans, walking sticks, Victorian lamps, my Belter Rosewood tables and Charles Eastlake chairs and couch. So cozy relaxing while surrounded by Victoriana. It was a magical era!
Carol McD. Wallace, who now prefers to be known as just Carol Wallace, she'll explain why in the interview, loved the Victorian era as much as I enjoy reminiscing about it. In her book, that is a pleasure to read, she has included era period photos, interesting facts, quotes, diagrams of homes and rooms, customs and stories about some of the people who lived then, back in the day. It is easy and fun reading for all ages and for those especially interested in this period in time...The Victorian Era!

  • Photographer Jordan Matter Talked To Me About His New Book "Dancers Among Us: A Celebration Of Joy In The Everyday"
Unless you actually pick up the book and thumb through it a bit, this is not the kind of book you think it is. This is a wonderful coffee table book you can spend a few minutes at a time with, or read and look at for hours.
Jordan Matter, is a photographer, as well as an observer of movement. So he combined his love of photography, his love of movement, and included some quotes from Henry David Thorough, William Shakespeare, and even Mae West, "Too Much Of A Good Thing, Can Be Wonderful" into this enchanting nugget of reading. *** It is important to note that nothing in this book has been Photoshopped. Yes, some of the scenes look dangerous, and they are, but it was one moment captured in time.
In this book dancers are put into unusual scenes. Nothing is rehearsed, some of them he captured within 5 frames others took hundreds. The one scene that caught my eye was a dancer in the operating room of a hospital. I asked about how he was able to get permission for all of these scenes. You have to hear his answer for this one!

  • Newt Gingrich, Talks Politics, What Happened To The Republicans This Last Election, Partisanship & His New Book "Victory At Yorktown" A Novel, About George Washington & The Revolutionary War
Well, I didn't know what to expect but Newt Gingrich came off to me as very real. He answered the questions I asked with confidence.
Newt's new book is entitled Victory At Yorktown. It completes his trilogy and chronicles George Washington as he takes his troops into battle during the Revolutionary War. What makes this books different is it is a novel, so while the facts are based in truth, he took some liberty in "imagining" what George Washington might have been like as a man, a person. What would he be feeling as he led his men into battle.
Newt also touched on what he thinks went wrong for the Republicans during the 2012 election, partisanship in America, who Newt believes was the most effective Republican and Democratic Presidents in history were, and what would George Washington think about the state of America in the last 10 years.
