Hey, pussycats. Janet Beckers here with your Cool Cats video tip of the week. Today I'm having a look at one of the biggest mistakes that people make when they're looking at implementing video in their business. You know what? I reckon this is the one that the majority of people are making, and it's why they're not connecting with people, and they're watching their competitors get the success and get the clients that they should be getting. Let's have a look at what that is.

The biggest mistake that I see people make, is they just don't start. They are waiting until they lose ten kilos, or particular zone. They're waiting until they've got a new hair style, or they're waiting until they're more of an expert. They're waiting until they know more. They're waiting until whatever. They're just waiting, waiting, waiting. They're waiting to get the perfect studio. There's always a reason why people are putting off using video in their business.

The thing is, while you are putting it off and you're not doing it, you are losing the opportunity, because video is here to stay. Video is growing. While you're not doing it, your competitors will be starting to use video. They are going to be building the connections with the people who you could be building the connections with. Instead of you developing a trust and a rapport with the people who need your help, you are hiding behind procrastination, while somebody else goes out there and is helping them, instead.

Is this the mistake that you are making? Are you putting it off, waiting to get it perfect? Waiting to afford the perfect camera, or waiting for whatever it is that you're waiting for? Are you doing that? If you are, you're letting people down, because they're not getting to connect with you. That's my biggest issue that I see. I'd love to hear from you. Hey there, pussycats. Janet Beckers here with your Cool Cats Video tip of the week. Today, I'm looking at the one of the big mistakes that I see people make in their videos, and it comes down to the question of when do you sell and when do you not sell. Let's have a look at that so that you're going to get it right. One of the biggest mistakes I see people make when they're putting out a regular video that is there is a way of connecting with their clients, and we're talking here about your short, sweet videos that you're putting out regularly and hoping that people are going to be sharing and connecting with.

The big mistake people make is they sell on these videos. This is going to really, really damage how much money you're going to be able to make through videos. It seems countering duty, doesn't it? But it's true. The videos that you're putting out that are regular ways of you connecting and building trust are a gift. They are a gift to your potential clients and to your clients, so don't then say, "Well, this is a gift, but I want something from you," because in that short time, you're really not going to be able to do a very good sales pitch anyway. Occasionally, it's okay for you to say, "Hey, look, I've got a great program that helps you with this, and I've got the links down below."

That's fine, but don't start going into all the details about why they should buy it. You're going to lose trust. Where it comes here is much of the trust in that video, when you're next videos come out, if you're doing this too often, people are going to say, "Look, I'm not going to watch the videos. They're just sales pitches." Keep that in mind. There are times to sell, and they're are times not to sell. Your regular content gift video is definitely there as a gift and a way of building trust, so don't blow it. I see this mistake all the time because people are desperate to get people to buy. Don't focus on that because people will be able to tell.

Hey there, pussycat. Janet Beckers here, with your Cool Cat TV Tip of the Week. Today, we're going to have a look at another big mistake that people make when it comes to video marketing. This is a really big one that I see, that means that I totally disconnect from the people who are watching them. Let's go and have a look what that is.

One of the biggest mistakes that I see people make, is they are not being themselves on video. Just about everybody has some sort of hangup, where you're thinking, "I'm not good enough. I need to be different in order to be able to get going in front of video, for people to take me seriously." I see, a lot of times, that people will try to be who they think they should be, rather than actually who they are.

They might see somebody else who's having success using video, and they will try to copy their style, but it's not quite right, it's not them. They might try to copy, a news reporter, who will be delivering the news. It just doesn't work. They may be somebody who is much more relaxed, and they'll try to seem more corporate. They may be somebody who's quite introverted, and they'll try to go the opposite, and try to be really, really vibrant, but it doesn't work for them.

You can tell if you're not really connecting to what is your natural way of delivery, and you're not owning that baby. People can tell. People can tell you're not being genuine, and they will feel an automatic distrust of you, even if you are incredible trustworthy, which I'm sure you are. It's owning who you are. This is your first thing to do, is think about, "What is my natural style, and how is that in relation to the way I'm showing in business?". We go into a lot of detail in this, in our video marketing academy, to help you to identify your style, and your brand, and how to be congruent. We have a congruency checklist.

To start with, think about how would you normally be acting with one of your clients. For me, and everybody that's involved with Cool Cats Academy, is we're pretty laid back people. We like to use video in our business, so it frees us up to have a great lifestyle. If I try to put on the whole corporatey type thing, it's not going to be necessarily working well for me. Not all the time anyway, not doing the shoulder pad stuff. For other people, that would be incongruent, especially if the people who they work with is very, very much in a corporate format. Number one, you really got to, absolutely, feel comfortable with your own style, and just own it, baby. Own it.

Today it's a big mistake that people make, that actually can end up damaging the trust that people have got with you, when you've been creating videos, that doesn't matter if you've done everything else right. Let's have look at what that is and what you can do to prevent it. Let's think about this, you've created a video and it could be one of your regular videos that you're sending out every week to really connect with your ideal clients.

You've given great content, you've given them a-call-to-action, where you've said, "Hey, come down leave a comment down below. Tell me what you're thinking. What are your thoughts. Answer this question." What you've done is you've asked them to interact with you in that video. Now for them to leave a comment down below where your video is, whether that's on YouTube, whether it's on your blog, whether it's on Facebook or Twitter, whatever it is. You've asked people to interact and leave a comment. That's a huge for them to do.

Think about the biggest ... They can't type. For them to have done that, they're interacting with you. They're showing that they trust and that they want a relationship. How rude if you don't come and take on the conversation. It's like you've asked them to do something and to start a conversation and then you've walked out. So many don't do this and I'll tell you what, it does not take long at all. When you're seeing comments, you've to go and comment on every single comment, if you're getting a lot but you need to come back and start commenting and acknowledging that people have interacted with you and continue the conversation. Really, really important because this thing continues to build up that trust and it make people know that you value them.

My call-to-action to you is, hey, leave the comment down below and tell you, I'll come back. I'll come back and join the conversation. The things that really helps when you're asking people to leave a comment, just give them something specific. The thing I'd like to ask to share below is what kind of things do you like people to ask you to comment on? Do you respond to them saying, "Ask a question?" Or do you respond to them saying, “Tell me specifically the one thing that works well for you?" Or asking them to give a tip, whatever it's that you're going to be doing. I'd love you to share that down below, what kind of things makes you want to leave a comment

The other thing to acknowledge is if people share. If they share your video. They deserve a big thank. Just don't ignore it, you can say, "Thanks for sharing." It means a lot and I'll share more in the future. It's a really little tiny thing that makes a huge difference to trust and it makes your videos become more viral because people say that this is the place where people are hanging out and talking. Today I'm looking at one of the big mistakes, really, really common, that people make when they're creating videos for their business or their marketing. I'll tell you what, if you don't do this very, very simple thing at the end of every single video you're very likely not going to be making very much money through your video marketing. Now, let's have a look at what that is.

One of the things that people very often miss when they're creating a video is at the very end, giving a call to action. You've just spent your time building trust, giving great content building, connection with people who are your ideal customers. Then, you just leave. What do you want them to do next? Do you want them to come and join your mailing list? Are you giving them a reason why they would join your mailing list? Do you want them to go and check out a product you've got? Or a program? Or workshop? Whatever it is, do you want them to go and have a look at that? Or do you want them to do something like share the video or do you want them to leave comments? What is it that you want them to do? Let them know.

That's called a call to action. If you do not include that, you're putting a lot of work in and then just kind of leaving before the party's finished. My call to action to you, is, I've got a gift for you. It's great value, and it's a way for me to build my mailing list and to keep us connected. This is an example of one of the call to actions that you can do, so, here is mine. Today, I'm having a look at another one of the mistakes that people make when they're implementing video in their business's marketing strategy, and this is the one that means you are just doing work for just a small outcome. It's not much to tweak it, and you can have a huge impact through your videos, so let's have a look at how you can do that.

One of the biggest mistakes I see people make is they do not leverage. They create their videos. They might send it out to their emails. They might put it on their blog post. Occasionally, they might share it on Facebook, and that's about it. There are so many more ways that you can totally milk it for all it's worth. For example, all of the videos that we create - the video you're watching now - is being syndicated over to iTunes. It'll be winking at the top. I haven't even watched it yet, actually, as I'm filming this and I can tell you it will be ranking at the top of iTunes, because I know how to do that. All my clients can do that.

It's leveraging over their own iTunes, it's automatically going over to Facebook, over to my Amazon author account, it's going over to Twitter, and then it can even go further. Past videos that I've created have actually been transcribed and used in the book, so it's using it that way. It can be transcribed and used on your website. It can be to make articles. There are so many ways that you can milk one three-minute video that mean that you're repurposing the same content in multiple formats, and it's very easy to make it so it will automatically get distributed, so this is something that I give ... Actually, I give you that for free, so I've got a free report that helps you with this, and in fact, it's not even a report, it's a checklist that's really, really quick for you. Hey there, pussycat. Janet Beckers here with your Cool Cats TV Tip of the Week. Today, we're looking at another mistake that is really common for people to make when they're creating their videos for their marketing, and this is to do with what you're actually saying. Let's have a look at that.

One of the biggest mistakes that people make is they ramble on and on and on. They do not have a structure to the way that they're going to present the content that they're giving to their clients. Is this a problem that you have? I know it certainly was for me when I first started creating video. I would just rabbit on for too long.

What's the solution? Well, you need to have a template. You need to have a structure that you can follow. Now, in our Video Marketing Academy, we have different formulas that we use for different types of videos.

Let me just show you a very simple one that is Janet's 7 Steps to Absolutely Everything in Life. You want to make sure that you're welcoming the viewer. You, then, want to establish some kind of credibility straight-up. You want to be able to give them a reason to keep on watching, so there's a little bit of a hook. You, then, want to be able to share a little bit of a story behind, so that people can relate to you. Of course, in a short video, this is only going to be very, very tiny. Then, you want to let people know what the problem is, so they know that you understand their problems. The bulk of your video is going to be on giving content, on giving the solution, and then the very last thing is you need to have a call to action.

Hey there pussycat. Janet Beckers here with your Cool Cats video tip of the week. Today I'm looking at one of the other big mistakes that I see business owners make when they're implementing video and that is so over complicating things. I'm going to show you how do you keep it simple.

A lot of times when people go to create video as an integral part of their marketing and their business, they think, right, I've got to get an expensive camera, I've got to somehow set up a studio or hire a studio so we get the professional look, I've got to go and get really, really fancy lighting, I want to get a green screen behind me so that we can make a really interesting background, and, and, and, all these things. It's way too complicated.

I tell you what. You can create really, really professional videos for your business and you probably have absolutely everything that you need. If you've got a telephone, got a mobile phone, you've got the camera, that's all that you're going to need. If you've got some sunlight coming through a window, you've got your lighting done. If you can get close enough to the camera, your sound is fine. I'm not using any mics today. You do not need to have a proper studio set up. At the moment, I'm sitting cross legged on a lounge.

For the first few years I created most of my videos sitting cross legged on the floor with the camera on my coffee table, on a pile of books, I didn't even have a tripod. You do not have to complicate it. Keep it simple.

There are ways to be able to create your surroundings so that it looks professional and it looks as if you've got a really fancy studio set up, but you don't. This is one of the things that we do in our online program and it's great. I show you behind the scenes of exactly how I've set up my studio and I show you past studios for when I set up and how to get the right equipment. The main point that I want to make for you here is keep it simple. You do not need great expense. You can get started honestly without having to spend a single cent more than you've already got. There goes your last excuse, okay? You don't have to complicate it, just get it done.

Today we're having a look at another one of the big problems that I see that business owners make when they're using video marketing, and this is the one that means that you're either top of line and continually building up trust, or you're one of those businesses were people go, "I remember there's somebody that does that solution. I can't quite remember who it was." Let's have a look at how this happens and what the solution is.

One of the biggest things that I see as a problem is inconsistency. Business owners put out videos ... They might put out one or two, and then they'll be a really long stretch before they'll put anymore videos out. They're not building up a consistent way of communicating, and building a connection and trust with their clients.

The big thing that I find that people say to me is, "Look, I don't have the time to be making videos like that all the time. How do you do it?" I've been doing a weekly video to my database for over four years. People say to me, "I haven't got the time. I haven't got the resources. I haven't got the money. I don't know how you do it." I'll tell you what, it doesn't take me that long. Every three months, the total of creating videos, leveraging them so they go out all around the internet is no more than a day in total. Over three months. The actual shooting of the videos for that may only take an hour or so. It's not a long time.

That's the secret. It's batching your time. In our online academy, the Cool Cats video, we have five different video strategies that we teach people, and one of those is the Me TV model. This is the model that means that you're consistently in touch with people. This is a model that has launched people's businesses. It's incredibly simple but very, very powerful, and it all comes down to being consistent.

Now, let's look at a subliminal message that comes from this. When you are, every single week, consistently delivering a gift of knowledge to your clients, either in their email inbox or through their social media streams, as well as you're connecting, you're also sending that subliminal message of, "I won't let you down. I'm reliable. I am here all the time." That's a really powerful message to be sending to people isn't it? That's another way that just is a really powerful way. Consistency is really going to end up creating a lot more traction, a lot more success and business and money in your business.

Today we're looking at another one of the mistakes that people make when they're using video for marketing in their business and that is the length of time that the videos go for. Let's have a look at the optimal time for a video that you're going to be using in your marketing. How long do you think a video should be? These are videos that you're using to connect on a regular basis with your potential clients and your existing ones. Ones that you have on your website that connect, that are a gift and that are demonstrating that you know what your frustrations are for your clients, and that you also have solutions.

For videos like these that you're wanting people to share, how long do you reckon it should be? I tell you what, the majority of people make them way too long. They try to do too much in every video. In fact, research has been shown that the average time that people will watch a video for is up to three minutes. After that amount of time, the number of people watching will start to drop off. Even if it's really interesting, there are still going to be people who are going to drop off. If you're making your videos going for ten minutes, fifteen minutes, twenty minutes, it's too long. You've got to keep it short and sweet.

That means when you're creating your videos, these are these connection videos that you want people to share, you really can only cover one point per video. As an example you'll see that instead of me creating one video, where I share the eleven most common mistakes that I see people make in video marketing, I haven't created one video with all of those in them. I've created eleven videos so that you can just watch one a time, just get a little gram. The other advantage is you as a business owner means that that's eleven weeks of marketing, rather than one. It means that there's a time that you're touching, connecting with your ideal clients. There's a mass advantage that comes from sticking to that rule of keeping it under three minutes.
