Kirsten Spruch is a writer, musician, and social media aficionado. By day, she writes for Billboard and works in social media for Jera.bean, a lifestyle brand with over 150k followers. By night, she releases swoon-worthy indie folk music under the name Kirsten Izer. Her most recent single, “One Year,” came out in September. Paper Moon Records is an independent record label based in Bushwick. We’re sitting down with the creative minds behind the label, Jake Cheriff and Sara Laufer. Jake is a musician and audio engineer; Sara is a photographer and videographer. Together they share a love of music, a distinctly cool and dreamy aesthetic, plus an apartment and two cats. Paper Moon Records represents artists like Daisy the Great and Jake’s own band, Modern Diet, whose latest single, “Dizzy,” came out last summer. Emile Panerio, Lincoln Lute, and Gordon Taylor are members of the indie-pop band Plastic Picnic. They live in Brooklyn and make sad music for people to dance to. Full of bright synths, honest lyricism, and upbeat, nostalgic guitar tones, their sound is as atmospheric as a glittery 80s fever dream. Their sophomore EP, Vistalite, came out in June.

RITUAL TALK is a psychedelic indie rock band from Brooklyn. Alex Desimine, Dylan Gleit, and Tom Criblez live together, write together, and have gone on two national tours together. Their live set, much like their sound, is hypnotic, soulful, and vibrant. Their most recent single, “If,” was released in June.

Indie synth-pop duo Fake Dad is Andrea de Varona and Josh Ford. They live and write their music together in Brooklyn. Their sound layers darkly dreamy melodies with spacey synths and smooth, head-bopping beats. Their newest single, “What’s Wrong, Pt. II,” came out in August.
Seon Gomez is a musician, a teacher, and a composer. He plays guitar and tours with the indie rock band Lewis Del Mar, he wrote the intro music for Alternatino, Arturo Castro’s standup show on Comedy Central, and he gives guitar lessons right here in Brooklyn. He also just got married!
