In this assembly for some time now, you have heard proclaimed that the bible is a Jewish writing! And so it is! From the beginning of its writing (1499 B.C. - A.D. 64) it always has been written to the first covenant people, about the first covenant people, that is the decedents of Abraham though Isaac – the Jews.

And we shall find great evidence to this fact in the teaching of Romans 9-11, as the Apostle Paul makes clear the Promise of Sonship with God has come through the covenant God made with Abraham. The bible was written by Jewish writers to Jewish people, and completed through a Jewish Messiah!

I. Speaking the Truth in Christ (the Apostles task)

a. Read Rom. 9: 1-5

b. Paul’s love for his unconverted countrymen

c. Israelite; those promised “adoption” through their faith and fidelity towards God and His Word.

II. Children of "the Promise” through faith and obedience

a. Read Rom. 9: 6-13

b. The Word of God fails not!

c. Through the "Promise” not by the flesh but though the Faith!

d. But all things by God’s Will, purpose and time.

III. God’s "nature” is Righteousness

a. Read Rom. 9: 14-26

b. God declares His power and authority through His words and decisions

c. Who then;

1. Finds fault with God?

2. Resists His purpose?

3. Our answers against God?

Is this Calvinism? No! Why not?

Reread Rom. 9:23-26

Salvation comes not through the will or religious organizations of men. Just as the first covenant people learned, the second or New Covenant people also learn.

Nothing apart from God’s messiah and his blood will usher in the promise of Sonship, enterance into the family of God – in the Kingdom!
