Justice William W. Bedsworth recently retired from the California Appellate court, receiving the court’s highest honor, the Distinguished Service Award. He is probably best known for his nationally syndicated column, which he has been writing for 44 years. Along the way he served as goal judge for the Anaheim Ducks, advanced civility through the case opinions known as the Holy Trinity of Civility Law, and furthered LGBTQ rights with a 2000 appellate opinion. He got his start as a deputy district attorney in Orange County, where after four years as a trial prosecutor he determined he was happier handling writs, appeals, and technical motions. He brings tremendous wisdom and insight into what works and what doesn’t in the courtroom, with the self-deprecating humor he’s come to be known for. So sit back and enjoy this interview!
