Dr. Lloyd Sederer is a psychiatrist extraordinaire, public health doctor, medical journalist and prolific writer and author who is coming onto the podcast today in light of the recent publications of his memoir: INK STAINED FOR LIFE - COMING OF AGE IN THE 1950s: A BRONX TALE.

Dr. Lloyd Sederer is an Adjunct Professor at the Columbia University, Mailman School of Public Health and Director of Columbia Psychiatry Media. Dr. Sederer served for 12 years as the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of the New York State Office of Mental Health, the nation’s largest state mental health system, where he continues as Distinguished Psychiatrist Advisor. He has been Executive Deputy Commissioner for Mental Hygiene Services in New York City (the “chief” psychiatrist for NYC), Medical Director and Executive Vice President of McLean Hospital in Belmont, MA (a Harvard teaching hospital), and Director of the Division of Clinical Services for the American Psychiatric Association. He has led the mental health disaster responses to 9/11 (as mental health commissioner in NYC), called Project Liberty, Hurricane Sandy and other disasters.
He has published seven books for professional audiences and six books for lay audiences, as well as 500 articles in medical journals, non-medical publications and book, film, TV and theatre review.

Dr. Amee Patrawalla is a pulmonologist specializing in critical care with a special focus on tuberculosis who worked through the initial surge of the pandemic in the North East of the United States in 2020.

Dr. Amee Patrawalla is a pulmonologist specializing in critical care with a special focus on tuberculosis. She is currently Associate Professor in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. She completed her training in Internal Medicine at Boston Medical Center and Pulmonary/Critical Care at NYU Medical Center. She holds a Medical Degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine and a Master’s in Public Health from NYU.
Her main interests are in the care and management of patients with Tuberculosis, an infectious disease that most commonly affects the lungs and is spread from person to person via air; and medical education and in the advanced training of pulmonary and critical care fellows. She enjoys working with medical students, residents and fellows and helping guide them in their careers.

Meet Ryan, Cassie and Aahaan, a group of guests consisting of 1 high school senior and 2 college freshman, all of whose normal routines or expected routines have been stalled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ryan is from the west coast and is a freshman student at Brown University. His start is delayed until January 2021. Cassie is a high school senior from North Carolina, a dancer and at the start of her college application process. She is learning remotely from home with her two siblings. Aahaan is a freshman in college at Rutgers University. Aahaan finished his senior year of high school in Texas and he and his family just moved to NJ where he was planning on attending school. But due to the school being remote, Aahaan instead of moving into the dorms continues to live at home with his parents, in a new state without his high school friends around him.
