Bully Answers: Self Esteem Recovery That Works
Sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never hurt me.
    – Children’s Verse – Christian Recorder – 1862
    Bully Brief About Aaron:
Aaron reports here: How to handle the bully. Aaron Wayne-Duke is an author, motivational speaker, hall of fame martial artist and former award winning radio broadcaster. His book, Daily Affirmations-Growing the garden of your mind is a self-help book that was inspired by his own personal revelations on the important topic of stuck mental programming, illusory self esteem challenges, and effective, personal reprogramming. He’s worked as a magazine columnist and contributor for an international publication, as a recording artist, record producer and voice over talent. He is recognized as the “anti-bully expert” by WGIL News Radio in Chicago.
Aaron’s Bully Story: Mid Life Self Awareness In The Context Of Success
Aaron looked good, he didn’t feel good inside.
Later in life, surprisingly late, he came to the conclusions he shares in this CBJ/023 interview. He didn’t develop the internal tools to manage bully abuse, and success didn’t teach him any answers.
A gifted public and motivational speaker, teacher and presenter, Aaron works nationwide helping educate and inspire children, youth and adults through his books, speaking engagements and seminars.
Aaron was a six time Illinois Broadcaster Association Silver Dome Award winner at both WMOI and WLSR radio.  He has been a magazine columnist and contributor for an international publication, recording artist, record producer and voice over talent.
He is a featured self-defense speaker and instructor for the local, regional and state, Illinois FCCLA: Family, Career and Community Leaders of America . He is a member of the USA Martial Arts Hall of Fame and the Action Martial Arts Magazine Hall of Honors. He currently owns and operates the Galesburg Academy of Martial Arts in Galesburg, Illinois.
Aaron Wayne-Duke trains clients live on-site, online, and at conferences and conventions.

Suicide Comes Down To Imbalances – Both Thinking And Feeling
Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.
    – Phil Donahue
    Suicide is not a remedy.
    ~ James Garfield
    Brief About Nancy:
Nancy Virden is from Cleveland, OH. Author, mental health and Recovery advocate, and founder of Always the Fight Ministries. Since 2012, Nancy has shared her story at conventions, schools, and churches from the East Coast to Chicago. She has contributed to articles in such publications as Newsweek Japan and Health Monitor Magazine, and to websites such as Examiner.com, and DomesticShelters.org.
Nancy’s Near Death Perspective Brings Both Hope And Recovery Plans
In January 2011, I tried to end my life. At that time, I was certain of three things: I was a nothing; my life was only pain; and there was no hope for change. As psychiatric treatment progressed, I had to admit my way of doing life had not worked. The worst despair I’ve ever experienced culminated in the beginning of an inner renovation.
Now I speak openly to a variety of audiences about what has worked for me to change how I think, behave, and believe. My message is positive. I know there is hope for suicidal people! I know each person has a reason to live and can find joy! It is my passion to express these facts to hurting people wherever I can.
The issue of how to be an effective support for depressed loved ones is also close to my heart. My seminar, How to Help Hurting People Without Hurting Yourself” is a very practical teaching on this matter.
Nancy Lives With A Can Do Attitude Now
One of the first things I learned was that my needs matter. It is not only my right to get them met, it is my responsibility,
Discovering that core beliefs existed and ran my life without my awareness, was ultimately the deepest catalyst for change. It has been and remains, without a doubt, the most difficult challenge in my process of recovery. Unlearning messages, I’d owned for 50 + years is a daily event.
There are hard but doable strategies I use to combat beliefs such as I am only valuable when someone tells me I am, I cannot be loved, and I am an incapable and dependent person.

Coaching For The Self Discovery Process – Street Reports
This Episode is our first CBJ interview with a coaching client. Cathy worked with a previous Interview Guest, Coach Peggy Sealfon – http://corebrainjournal.com/016 – and talks about her recovery from the client’s perceptions, the street side, the recipient side, of that coaching equation. Cathy was lost, and coaching helped her find herself. Her activity of change sealed the considerable progress she’s made.
Coaching And Reality – The Biggest Problem: Facing Changing Reality
In any recovery process your personal reality changes. Most often recovery evolves moving forward from disappointing, outdated expectations, your limited view of how you thought the world was supposed to work with you or for you. That disappointment is hard, but not as hard as entering your new reality of: what you must do next – you next responsibilities for advanced self management.
Just think of the Charles Dickens novel – Great Expectations. Everyone there lived in a variety of dreams that eventually ended, and forced each person to cope with the reality of their most meaningful, most significant relationships. Today we’re obviously not living in Victorian England. But Dickensian rules still apply today: if you don’t improve/widen your perceptions regarding reality, and, as a consequence,  your relationships don’t change, then you will become, will remain, angry, depressed and broken. You could remain broken and stuck in outdated dreams for a lifetime.
    Remember This
It’s not your actual, your real self that’s broken, it’s your expectations that became so real you internally locked them down as frozen in time, necessary for your survival – as if they were concrete reality.  In any recovery, from relationships to drugs and alcohol, it’s the relationship misperceptions, the Great Relationship Expectations that create the most painful life experiences.
Reality is always changing. Effective Executive Function, workable working memory, synchronizes with change – rather than fighting it. Two important quotes from the beginnings of recorded history on time, nature, and change:
There is nothing permanent except change.
You cannot step into the same river twice.

A Relationship Coach Reports – Her Body Drove Her To Embrace Her Comprehensive Approach
“Before becoming a relationship coach I spent almost ten years ill with chronic illness such as Interstitial Cystitis, Fibromyalgia, and Irritable Bowel – and then healed myself through natural methods such as fitness, nutrition, and meditation. That experience transformed my life and lead me to explore holistic healing. I also spent 15 years in a bad marriage and, after 3 times separated from a non-evolving marriage, I am finally divorced.
Through those years I began having meta-physical and spiritual experiences. I went on a quest to understand them and found quantum physics. When I was only 10 all of my friends wanted to be teachers and models and I wanted to be a “brain” surgeon. My passion for the mind band brain awakened once again and I began searching for the connections between mind, brain, spirituality, science, and the physical world. My most interesting experiences have been the intuitive and healing work that I have been able to do knowing what I know.
    I practice what I preach.”
    Amy’s Objectives Include Children
“I am firm believer in education. Ignorance is not bliss. By sharing stories and experiences we begin to plant seeds and infuse the potential for change. I believe that children should be taught to meditate in some form. We should all be doing brain-type exercises as well as practice informed brain nutrition.”
Amy’s message in one sentence: Become active with your own recovery; just thinking doesn’t work as well as using a comprehensive, action-oriented approach.

  • 019 Dorothy Kuhn Rethinking Dementia
Recognize Dementia Early To Turn It Around
Until now dementia was thought to be irreversible. It’s my mission now to let others know they do have options. Don’t become a “Still Alice” and pretend to yourself it will finally get better. Dig in and start now with finding answers to the complexity of memory challenges.
    – Dorothy Kuhn
Dorothy Kuhn’s Dementia Story: Not Treatment Failure – But Memory Denial
Dorothy Kuhn, from Denton, TX is a physicist who became a business turn-around expert. Under family pressure, after denial, she belatedly discovered dementia. Her intelligence fed her denial. She turned dementia around too. She created a system that makes recovery simple and fun. Here’s how she did it:
    Dorothy’s  Brain Worked Well
She graduated in Physics and Math, won her first professional position knowing more quantum mechanics than anyone else. Honored to be Texas Instruments’ representative to Carnegie Mellon University, she co-authored the industry standard in Systems Engineering and served as Product Manager for its assessment method, turning her focus from technology alone to the process of how teams work well together and get great results. TI and others have used this to expand profitability, market share and building great teams.
Dorothy next expanded on this TI initiative to help other companies get the results they want. From Fortune 50 to middle market firms, she’s turned them around from swamped to smooth sailing. She showed them how to identify and solve their problems at the root-cause, and then plan a setup for the long term success they want. Her consultations created greater profit, happier employees and owners who could “breathe easy” again.
When she began suffering with the early signs of dementia, she partnered with her doctor, using these same skills to turn her denial and memory loss around. For months, she didn’t talk about her recovery, then she realized her new reality … other people deserve to know. She looked back at her recovery process, partnered with her doctor, and created a system to make dementia recovery uncomplicated for anyone.
Since then, she’s gone on to become a sought-after speaker, international best selling author, win the respect of her colleagues and clients, and help others turn-around dementia like she has.
Dorothy loves her life, once again.
In Her Words: A Brain Fog Shock
Had you been with me the Sunday after Thanksgiving 2013, you would have witnessed the scariest moment of my life. I’d enjoyed a great weekend with my two grown kids when on Sunday, I was talking with my son as though the conversation we had just the day before, had never taken place. My daughter looked at me with that teenage “AAAAHHH” all over her face that said ‘What is going on with you, Mom?!’ In an instant, my 3-year struggle with memory & focus escalated to emergency.
Next morning, I called my doctor.
‘You have to get me to the best brain guy in Dallas – second best will not do.’ ‘Dorothy, what’s going on?’ People who know me, know me for being lucky. Very lucky. ‘Dorothy, I can get you to the best in Dallas. Used to work with them. Here’s what they’ll tell you: Come back when it’s really bad.’ I was thinking ‘This is kickin’ my Texas tuckus now!’
Part of why my medical doctor went into medicine, her grandmothers passed miserably from it. She promised herself she’d do everything she could to make it go away. She saw me that week. Three months into treatment, I asked her: ‘How much runway does this buy me? 6 mos? A year? 5 years?’ She said ‘Dorothy, you keep up these new habits,

NeuroCranial Restructuring – A Remarkable New Tool
It’s not just professional athletes and soldiers who are at risk from traumatic brain injury. More than 1.7 million people a year sustain a traumatic brain injury, and about 50,000 of them die each year, according the Centers for Disease Control. There are both emotional and financial costs from these injuries.
    ~ Anne Wojcicki
Interesting NeuroCranial Options from TBI To Cosmetic Beautification
Listen to these Cranial Space Observations: A well-trained practitioner now moves the bones in the skull for fresh recovery options: TBI to Avoiding Plastic Surgery. Listen to what he thinks about correctly moving the suture joints in the cranial vault in this Episode.
Dr. Dean Howell is an internationally recognized Naturopathic physician primarily well known for being the inventor and developer of NeuroCranialRestructuring® – which he feels is one of the most powerful therapies in physical medicine today. Dr. Howell is also the inventor of FaceMax®, considered the best Facial remodeling alternative to costly facial surgery and cosmetic beautification treatments. He was born and raised in Everett, Washington, then graduated from Bastyr University with his naturopathic medical degree in 1982, after completing a mathematics degree from the University of Washington in 1978.
Dr. Howell Weighs On The Controversy Regarding Chronicity and Pain
What I have achieved with cranial restructuring is due to my constant quest to solve what I saw as challenging redundancies in Physical Medicine. The unfortunate truth is that physical medicine treatments are often performed on patients only to give them temporary relief from pain and dysfunction while waiting for the underlying, more causal problems to go away with time and exercise.  In the medical literature, only exercise has consistently shown to improve the status of the patient.
My principal question in that regard continues: “Are there any treatments that consistently, permanently improve the functional capacities of the body and give relief of pain and dysfunction as well?” While there is such a treatment, the answer appears at first as a no, because there is no such treatment generally available.  Studies of chiropractic, traditional osteopathy, and drugs have all proven to be of little benefit for patients in their underlying, long-term conditions.
Chronic conditions are the bread and butter of the physical medicine industry. Patients believe that they cannot get better, so too often they accept palliative care, insuring that they will be permanent customer/patients. My frustration with ineffective therapy was the initial push to create NeuroCranialRestructuring®.
    Some Provocative Stats
Clinically developed and tested over the past 30 years NeuroCranialRestructuring® (NCR®) is a cumulative manipulation process involving the controlled release of the body’s connective tissue tension to unwind the cranial vault with the body and return it towards its original design. The interesting results of this therapy have brought new life and healing in the lives of more than 60,000 patients who had previously deemed untreatable by mainstream medicine. The concept of NeuroCranial Restructuring is still new though it tackles many of the usual challenges that are targets for Cranio-Sacral Therapy, Osteopathy or other streams of Physical Medicine.
Ed Note: Sorry about this recording, I can’t control what happens on the other end of each interview. Dr Howell was on wireless, and his sound goes too loud, but he does share important, critical brain information.

Measure Brain Function To Improve Outcomes – Appearances Encourage Guesswork
Jeff Copper likes to measure. He is, quite simply, a man for all seasons, as he reflects, reports, and recommends on the remarkable changes in ADHD mind science. His international reputation for asking important questions, for providing an interesting forum to discuss the vagaries of ADD/ADHD diagnosis and treatment, is nothing less than exemplary – especially in these halcyon years of ADHD medication confusion, distrust, and pervasive medical quandary.
It’s dicey out there, and Jeff sets out to correct the guessing game with details that work.
With over, at the date of this interview, 450 audio and video interviews with important thought leaders Jeff sets the standard for facilitating useful, understandable programs for both public and professionals – that directly address ADHD and Executive Function Challenges.
    Straight Talk: Thinking About Function
If the targets and treatments remain imprecise who can blame the public for a pervasive lack of confidence in the medical system? The good news, label guesswork is out [hyperactive vs inattentive?], and detailed, functional measurement, both brain, and biomedical is now more decidedly, irrevocably in. No, I’m not diving into the deep waters of controversy over functional vs traditional medicine. The function I’m addressing here at CBJ is at once complex and simple: brain function and biomedical function from a comprehensive medical perspective is increasingly translatable, understandable, and applicable at the street level.
My perspective remains the same: Comprehensive perceptions are inclusive, not polarized in either of the warring medical camps and are in the best interest of the most advanced, most precise, most predictable patient care.
