There is a type of courage that can deceive you, let you down, and get you into trouble and there is a kind of courage that comes from a key relationship that every person needs. When we talk about courage it's important to be able to distinguish these two types of courage and to know how to consistently choose the second. Brian looks at a fairly famous story in a new way and shows us how we can know true courage and how we can put ourselves in a place to choose it.

Brian returns from his sabbatical to talk about how we move from places of fear towards courage. In the first of this two-parter, Brian talks about how courage is not the opposite of fear, but rather, the response we can have to fear. As Brian illustrates, continually choosing the courageous response begins to change us to be people of virtue who are not overwhelmed by our fears.

The Foreshadows series concludes with a message from Gene speaking to the response we have to God's incredible story. At the core, we all have a sense of what this story should be, but we face questions when we come to difficulties and challenges. Gene addresses this and talks about how we can look at our own life stories and interpret them in light of what God is doing.

One of the most interesting aspects of Scripture is the importance that the LORD places on appointed times throughout the year; commonly referred to as the Jewish Feasts. As Gene takes us into this particular foreshadow, he reveals how these feasts reveal a cycle of struggle, hope and redemption. Not only that, but these feasts line up EXACTLY with important events in history that reveal God's mysterious plan to redeem and to unite his people. Finally, we see that these feasts cause us to look forward to a day where God will gather together his people and dwell together with them. After all... it's all about going home.

The Foreshadows series has shown several aspects of the way that God is building an eternal family, but one of the key elements of a healthy family is their access to the father. In this message, Gene dives into scripture and looks at the hebrew language to reveal God's desire to "be neighbors" with His people. Through the course of Scripture's story we see this relationship move from one of limited access into the confident access we now enjoy and even look forward to a day when we have the full access of God literally and completely dwelling with His people. It's a beautiful story of a good father, we hope you enjoy it!

The Foreshadows series continues to reveal God's plan to build His eternal family with a look towards a crucial element of any family: the time they spend together. As Gene unpacks the narrative we see in Scripture, he shows that God's plan has always been one where our work is made purposeful through rhythms of rest. In episode one, we see that there is a time every week to cease from our work and to focus upon God and family. In episode two we see an invitation to cease 24/7 from the work of building our own kingdoms and instead to be a part of the Lord's. Finally, in the last episode, we look forward to a day where we cease forever from all of our work. It's a powerful message, especially for all of us who find ourselves consumed by our too-often-busy schedules.
