There is an epidemic of missing fathers in our country. Statistics show that 33% of children in America-roughly 24.7 million children-are living in homes without a father. That number has tripled since 1960. The stats are worse for the African American community where 57.6% of black children are being raised by single mothers. Where are all the fathers? Where are the dads who will be the men God called them to be? In today's Fathers' Day message, Pastor Gary looks at six examples of fathers from Scripture (though most are poor examples) so we can learn from the good and the bad what it means to be "Good Dads". There is hope for every father, and there is hope for every child without a father.

In this closing look at the book of Esther, we see God's providential hand intervening to save the Jewish people from annihilation. He puts into motion three great "reversals" and turns the table on the Persian people in favor of the Jews. At the same time, there is wonderful symbolism about God's grace over our lives to save us also. And while this was a miraculous, historic event in rescuing the Jewish people (which Jews still celebrate today with the Festival of Purim), we should celebrate God's miraculous rescuing of us from death as well.

Unlike other characters in the story of Esther, Esther herself is someone who demonstrates quiet obedience to the Lord without a desire to grab the glory. Even though she is promoted to the most influential role as queen of Persia, she never seeks the power, position, or prestige. God providentially promotes her and uses her for His glory and for the saving of the Jewish people. When we seek our own GLORY, we end up with MISERY.
