In the closing chapters of 2 Samuel, David sins against the Lord by counting all the fighting men of Israel. He was incited by Satan and he was motivated by pride. However, he immediately felt "conscience-stricken" and repented to the Lord. In today's study, Pastor Gary discusses the meaning and purpose of the human conscience-how God has given us the moral capacity to choose between right and wrong-and how we should listen to that conscience before it's too late.

After the attempted coup by his son, Absalom, had ended, David returned to Jerusalem to occupy the palace once again as king. Unfortunately, Ahithophel betrayed David and joined the revolt that Absalom led against his father, David. Hushai, however, was a true, loyal friend to David.
