Using Selected Scriptures we will look at the glory of Christ’s Church in the early centuries     

Doctrine: The glory of Christ’s church was advanced in the early centuries through councils, creeds and confessions of faith          

Q: Why should these matter to us today?       

I. They give us an answer for the hope that is in us  1Pe 3:15       

II. They boost our confidence in the faith once for all delivered to the saints Jud 1:3       

III. They give us teaching tools for our children Deu 6:6-7           

IV. They promote unity of the faith in gospel ministry Php 1:27     

Apostle’s Creed:      

I believe in God, the Father almighty,   
      creator of heaven and earth.    

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
      who was conceived by the Holy Spirit
      and born of the virgin Mary.
      He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
      was crucified, died, and was buried;
      he descended to hell.
      The third day he rose again from the dead.
      He ascended to heaven
      and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty.
      From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

Doctrine: Christ’s church is worthy of our utmost love   

Q: Why should I love the church fervently? I should love her fervently because:   

I. She is Christ’s beloved bride Eph5:23-27     

II. She is Christ’s baptized body 1Cor12:12-13   

III. She is Christ’s beautiful building Mat 16:18

Doctrine: Death is a great pulpit for wisdom preaching             

Q: What kind wisdom is necessary for a blessed, successful life?          

I. Seek spiritual wisdom 1-4        

II. Seek godly, practical wisdom 5-12

Doctrine: Blessed are the temple-minded temple-builders   

Q: How can we be temple-minded temple-builders to the glory of God?     

I. Make abundant preparations for temple worship 1Chron22   

II. Be committed to temple service 2Chron23-26   

III. Give joyfully to temple needs 1Chron29

Doctrine: God ordains our station in life          

Q: How should I respond to my ordained station?            

 

1. Apply God’s remedy to your Adonijah-virus    

2. Be content to serve God where He has stationed you        

3. Seek refuge at God’s altar of mercy for your treasonous sins

Doctrine: The Christian soldier owes undying loyalty to King Jesus   

Q: How can I be a loyal soldier of JC?   

1. Recognize that God sovereignly appoints Leaders for His purposes   

2. Render unceasing allegiance to the true King

Doctrine: God ordains human means to build His kingdom         

Q: How can I be a valiant soldier for Jesus Christ?         

I. Fight fearlessly for the King       

II. Render loyalty to the King
