Welcome to the cornerstone of america podcast! I am your host, Alex Joudy.
Author Henry David Thoreau once wrote, "The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation"
When I hear this, I think of all the people I’ve met that regret taking that smooth, familiar, beaten down road in life.
Then I think about all those individuals who chose the path less traveled.
The one’s who opened a Salon, a gym, a deli on the corner, an auto shop.
These are the individuals that are the foundation of our towns and cities. The backbone of our country.
The Cornerstone of America.
What makes them different?
What drives these individuals to strike out on their own and forge their own path?
In my experience, it's a combination of personality, work ethic and conditioning. I also think there is something else there:
FEAR
FEAR OF STAGNATION
FEAR OF WHAT IF
FEAR OF WASTED TIME,
FEAR OF A WASTED LIFE.
Is this what Thoreu was referring to all those years ago?
Maybe.
But the only way to know for sure is to get to know these individuals. What drives them to make the choices they make in business and in life.
Like most who choose that unknown path, I don't know exactly where this journey will lead, but I'm sure as hell excited to find out!
