We will also look at the blessings that come from being generous, righteous, and confidently trusting in the LORD’s provision.

We are continuing our sermon series on the person who fears the LORD will be richly blessed. Today we will begin a the first of a two part sermon taken from Psalm 112. We will begin by defining terms. This might seem a little basic but in reality to understand why the person who fears the LORD is richly blessed we must first lay a little ground work. This morning we will answer four important questions. First, “How Blessed and Happy are You?” The next question will be, “How Are You Fearing the LORD?” The third question is, “How Delighted and Excited are You?” Finally we will answer question, “How Uprightly are You Living?” I hope you will join us to learn more about the amazing blessings of the LORD for those who fear Him.

Once Again we will examine the fear of the LORD and the wisdom from above but we will focus on the amazing and rich blessings that fill the lives of those who fear God and embrace His wisdom and reject the wisdom of man. To begin, it is important to remember the relationship between the “Fear of the LORD,” “The Wisdom from Above,” and “The Blessings of God’s Wisdom!” We will briefly redefine each before we delve into the many priceless blessings that the man or woman will enjoy who truly fears the LORD and acquires the wisdom from our heavenly Father. The second part of the lesson this morning will examine the rich blessings that await those who will genuinely fear the LORD and will earnestly seek His wisdom for every aspect of their lives. There is purpose, peace, and power, along with courage, contentment, and confidence for everyone who will humble themselves before the great Sovereign Jesus and Christ and give themselves to fulfill His will.

“The Fear of God is the Beginning of Wisdom,” is the title for this morning’s sermon. We will begin our lesson this morning by reviewing the union and power in the tri-union of wisdom, understanding and knowledge as it relates to building our relationship with our LORD. We will turn our attention to how God defines wisdom. This wisdom is the wisdom that comes from the LORD which is powerful in producing blessings in our relationship with the Lord, our own lives, and the live of those whom we surround ourselves with.

The longer I live the more I become convinced that those who do not fear the Lord nor obey God’s will are targeted by the devil! If Jesus, does not have first place in in our heart, mind, and soul and we do not yield ourselves to the authority of His word then we will fall for Satan’s counterfeit perversions of the truth! Our knowledge and wisdom must reflect the truth, the substantive reality of God’s will for our lives in every thought, word, deed, and relationship. The most important relationship in the LORD is marriage! Satan has targeted this relationship from the very beginning to draw humans away from the truth to follow his perversion of the “one flesh” relationship of marriage which is to be a perfect reflection of the one flesh relationship between Christ and His bride, the Church! Satan’s scheme of counterfeit and perversion has destroyed the honor, purity, and sanctity of this powerful relationship that can and does reflect the great love and respect in marriage that God so desires the world to see manifest in His people! Let us learn to fear the LORD in all things but most importantly in knowing and yielding to His will in the marriage relationship so that our marriages, families, and individuals will manifest the great love of God for mankind! My sermon is titled, “The Fear of God is to Know and Do God’s Will!” The first of two points will be focused on God’s pattern for the marriage relationship between husband and wife and how this can and must reflect His relationship between Christ and His bride, church. Second, we will discover how we are to manifest God’s “one flesh” covenant love by keeping the marriage bed in honor and purity.

This morning we return in earnest to the study of the fear of the LORD. Proverbs 1:7 reads, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.” We will begin by examining this truth statement that the fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge. Real knowledge of anything must be based on truth. Truth is the substantive reality of the thing we desire to know. Jesus Christ is the great “I Am,” the eternally existing One, who created all things both visible and invisible, physical and spiritual. All things were created by Him, through Him, and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together! Without the fear of the LORD which is the reverential awe and adoration of the Christ which we possess through a growing knowledge of Him, we become easy targets for indoctrination not education, the philosophies of men rather than true wisdom and understanding, and the craftiness in deceitful scheming rather that the pure unadulterated truth! We will discover that the fear of the LORD in reverential awe and adoration must come first in our lives if we are to discover real knowledge based on substantive truth. First, we establish that Jesus is the beginning point for all knowledge. Second, we will discover that those who hate real knowledge are fools and will suffer greatly both in this life and in the life to come. We will also find that those who love real knowledge, the knowledge based upon God’s creation, will be richly blessed in this life and in the life to come.

This morning we begin once again to address this year’s theme, “The Power of the Fear of God.” I want to begin on this Father’s Day Sunday by changing our perspective about the fear of our heavenly Father. The Scriptures teach He is our Dad and we can and should call Him, “Daddy!” He loves us more than we love ourselves. Psalm 84 and verse eleven tells us that, “No good thing does He withhold from those-(His children) who walk uprightly.” Again, we are told by our brother James that, “Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.” God, our Father, our Daddy, continues to sacrifice Himself for us that we might live with Him forever.
What have we lovingly sacrificed for Him?
How have we shown Him honor and respect?
This morning let’s begin again our study of what the meaning of fearing God really is with a sermon titled, “Love and Respect for Dad!”

The title of my lesson this morning is “Beating the Fear of an Economic Collapse!” The question for the Christian is how do we do this without going crazy weird. There are many important things to understand from the Scripture that will help us to faithfully and thoughtfully respond to future economic challenges. The alternative is to wait and do nothing and then react with unreasoning panic and selfishness. First, we must genuinely believe that God is sovereign and if we are faithful He will provide for our needs. Second, we must learn to be frugal now, being wise in our use of money and other resources as the Scriptures direct. Third, we must be prudent and thoughtfully prepare by wisely purchasing and storing non perishable food stuffs and other items necessary for the uninterrupted, continued service in sharing the gospel of Christ. But most importantly we must learn three critically important truths about our lives as Christians that will help us grow our usefulness to the Master in challenging economic times. First we must be liberal in our giving. We must trust the LORD and His wisdom in giving liberally to meet the needs of the saints. Jesus and the Apostle Paul speak to this important point for building a close knit family of believers who are able to continue to spread the good news in the most difficult economic times. Second, we must learn true contentment with what we have, giving thanks to our heavenly Father for His loving provision for each day. As the Scriptures teach, we “we brought nothing into this world, so we cannot take anything out of it either.” We must remember though, we will be able to take people with us, friends and loved ones, who have received Christ Jesus as Lord and obeyed the gospel of Christ. Finally, we must learn the lessons of being a caring and sharing member of the body of Christ, the church. The first century church, as described in the book of Acts chapters two and four, gives us two excellent examples of the love and concern Christians have for one another during challenging economic times.
