Anne Bowden’s 20-year legacy of mosaics and mentorship - Her journey into art began during a challenging 10-year period of deep depression. Encouraged by her counsellor to try painting, she discovered a creative outlet that became transformative. This led to her participation in an exhibition organized by Stepping Out, a support group for psychiatric survivors in Thames, where she showcased her work for the first time.

Each year during the first two weekends of March, passionate local artists from Tairua to Whangapoua throw open the doors of their creative spaces and invite the public into their studios.

Mt Paku is a volcanic peak rising between the southern end of Tairua Beach and the Tairua harbour mouth. It was formed around 7-8 million years ago as a volcanic island. Relatively recently (over 6,000 years ago), sea levels rose, allowing a land bridge to develop that now connects the area known as Tairua to Mt Paku.
