I've been on vacation in the Poconos this week getting an opportunity to break away from routine, read some books and reconnect with myself. I've taken time to build a morning routine that benefits my sense of zen and given myself the opportunity to think about big picture concepts.

INTPs have an amazing ability to pull together disparate pieces of data and start create something new that the world may not have experienced before. The challenge is that we often ride high on the excitement of the idea and the hard work can be a challenge to work through. This is where we need to take the most action and find a path forward as opposed the avoidance tactic of starting all sorts of new projects instead.

Typology is a complex topic that often feels as if it promises a clear answer to all of life's problems but it is not even remotely that simple because humans are not simple. We are wonderfully complicated, full of life experiences and unique flavors even within the concept the INTP type preference.

INTPs have this amazing power of logical connection and deduction but it's often not appreciated in the public. Some of that is our fault and we can do a better job of actually assessing what our strength is. That strength being calibration as opposed to correction. We can help people realize their truth but not force our truth onto them. Our truth is for us but we lend someone our Ti to help them figure out what works best for them. We can't force a brain to do anything that it's not ready to do.

I've been getting more involved with my friends at Personality Hacker, who are also my clients (full disclosure). I was recently at one of their profiler training events to experience what it was like to develop my understanding of typology and help them document the event. At one point, we worked through "embodiment exercises" which helped people realize that it is very hard to actually experience what other types experience. It was through that exercise that I realized that we're all different robots operating under our own different programming. I mean, we still have free will but that also means that INTPs are not exclusively robots and we shouldn't be thinking of ourselves that way.

INTPs can most definitely struggle with finding a sense of inner and outer peace in our lives. We get fixed on being correct, can keep ourselves out of reality and become a big cynical and form ideologies around that cynicism. INTPs can often run into the challenge of their harshness not being appreciate but we also feel like we shouldn't be softer or grow in any way. While I don't think we should just adapt to the world completely, one of the best ways to accomplish your detail to help without being harsh is by asking questions. It's a way that we can allow others to borrow our introverted thinking function without forcing it on them because at it's core, as much as we want to, we can't make a brain do something it's not ready to do.

It's obvious to INTPs that we're very introverted but sometimes we can get tripped up as to what that actually means. You may have wandered into Myers-Briggs with an assumption of what introversion and extroversion mean and have concluded that you need to avoid people at all costs. This video explains why that's not the case and how you can recharge your mental batteries while navigating the outside world.

Today we're looking at the logic of INTPs and how understanding that subjective nature of our logic can open up so many doors to empathy. It's not our job to force our logic or "correctness" onto someone but we can use our superpower to help someone deduce what they need in order to get a logical place.
