  • Phage-Based Skincare, featuring FagoFarma Business Director Milan Bunata

Bacteriophage technology is being used to address acne, eczema, and other dysbiotic skin concerns. Some microbiology companies are working with endolysins (proteins produced by phages), others are focused on formulating skincare with phages themselves.

This week on the CosmoFactory podcast, we consider possible cosmetic industry applications for bacteriophage technology. Our guest is Milan Bunata, Business Director of FagoFarma, a biotech company specialized in phage-based preparations for use in the cosmetics, pharma, and veterinary industries. Based in the Czech Republic, FagoFarma was established in 2013. And this year, in an effort to both educate consumers about phage-based skincare and to gather feedback, the company launched a consumer acne care product called FagoCare Gel.

  • Sustainable Innovation, featuring O-PAC R&D Cosmetic Formulation Chemist, Skincare Annamaria Corti and Sales & Marketing Director Orietta Riccaboni

Solid beauty and waterless products are increasingly common now that sustainable innovation is a priority for cosmetic brands and personal care manufacturers. The challenge comes in developing a novel skincare format, for instance, that is both eco-friendly and in line with consumer behavior.

This week on the CosmoFactory podcast, we discover how a team of research and development professionals took on this challenge by leveraging material sourcing partnerships, creating truly new formulations, adding manufacturing capabilities, and more! Our guests are Annamaria Corti, R&D Cosmetic Formulation Chemist, Skincare and Orietta Riccaboni, Sales & Marketing Director at O-PAC srl, a contract manufacturing company founded in 1989. Building on a history of innovation in the wet wipes category, in 2022 O-PAC introduced solid, single-use skincare that transforms to a gel-cream texture in just seconds. Beauty Pills, is a patent-pending formulation concept; and the R&D team at O-PAC continues to expand their portfolio of just-add-water or reconstitutable beauty.
