1-14 kids has anxiety per Telethon Kids Institute. 

We see it at our school where kids are coming in with various amounts of anxiety, both at typical levels and also heightened levels. 

Anxiety is going to occur simply because school can be stressful but we want our kids to be able to have to skills and tools to manage and cope with that anxiety. 

In today's episode I dive into three ways parents and school staff can help kids manage their anxiety.

Today we welcome the Superintendent of the Fairport Central School District, Brett Provenzano. Mr. Provenzano has been working in the school system as a teacher, principal, and Superintendent for over 20+ years. Mr. Provenzano looks at himself as a coach and has found great success working with both students and staff trying to motivate them through empowerment and just being present. If you have ever met Mr. Provenzano you can see that he truly cares about the Fairport community and will do anything to ensure both student and staff succeed.

With the end of the school here and some of our kids leaving the elementary level to enter middle school this is a fitting topic.

Middle School is very different from elementary school and some kids are prepared, ready, and excited; while others are intimidated, unprepared, and scared.

So what are the differences between elementary school and middle school? What should your 5th grader be prepared for? Who can your son or daughter talk to if they are having BIG feelings?
