This is part 1 of a suite I plan to do covering the cannabis industry, and I couldn't have asked for a better guest. Mike Cardozo is a Cannabis Entrepreneur and Co-Founder/CEO of Chesapeake Alternatives. He is also CEO of Karuna Ventures & Cardozo Strategies LLC.

Mike's knowledge of the industry is shockingly expansive, and his commitment to shedding light on the myriad positive attributes of cannabis is inspiring.

Chesapeake Alternatives became Maryland's first operational Medical Cannabis Processor in 2017 and opened one of the first dispensaries in the state on December 2, 2017. Green Thumb Industries eventually acquired Mike's vertically integrated operation. 

Mike has a particular passion for chipping away at resistance to the usage of cannabis for medicinal purposes.

He is a great friend and an old high school classmate of mine - and I'm proud to say he has carved out a substantial niche in a highly competitive, rapidly developing industry. 

Perhaps the most impressive and intriguing part of our discussion surrounds Mike's view of the cannabis industry as a potential launching pad for propagating more equitable corporate behavior around gender, race, veteran status, etc.

Schools like Landon (a private all-boys school in Bethesda) offer myriad advantages to students (very insightful observation, I know).
