  • 03-05-20 Younes and Hanania on Netanyahu and Gantz elections; Sanders and Biden elections
Podcast: Netanyahu and Gantz elections; Sanders and Biden elections
Veteran award winning journalists Ray Hanania of the Arab News newspaper and Ali Younes of Aljazeera English analyze the recent elections in Israel and in the United States.
Israel's 3rd elections in less than a year took place on Monday March 2, 2020 resulting another uncertain outcome with Netanyahu leading in the number of Knesset seats but still shot to the 61 he needs to form a ruling coalition. Benny Gantz's Blue & White Party received the second largest number of Knesset seats, while the Arab Joint List achieved its highest Knesset win in history, 15 total seats, still show tof their 24 seat potential as 20 percent of Israel's population.
In the United States, the Democratic Party rallied around Joe Biden to give him a win over Bernie Sanders in the March 3, 2020 Democratic Primary contests in 14 states. Biden took most of the states with the backing of the Democrats and support from two predecessors who quit, Pete Buttigieg and Amy Klobuchar.
Hanania and Younes analyzes both and explore how they are connected.

  • Compelling story on Sarah Gad - convicted of prescription drug use - who is running for Congress in the 1st Dist. Mar. 17, 2020
Compelling story on Sarah Gad - convicted of prescription drug use - who is running for Congress in the 1st Dist. Mar. 17, 2020
Special Edition of The Arab street Radio/Ray Hanania on Politics podcast and radio show. Feb. 14, 2020, broadcast on WNZK AM 690 live radio in Detroit.

Sarah Gad is running in the 1st District against Bobby Rush, who has the worst absenteeism rate of any of the 435 members of congress

She has this compelling story of how she was hit by a DUI in 2011, seriously injured and put into an induced coma for two weeks, comes out of it with serious injuries, and given pain medication to deal with it all and then becomes seriously addicted to it … and turns her life around to help others fight pain medication addiction and those charged with minor crimes.

Gad was released from the hospital and medical treatment with no post-pain addiction treatment and she quickly gets hooked on her pain meds, leading her to be arrested.

The 1st time she is arrested, she is locked up in the Cook County jail with violent offenders for 27 days because the non-violent area is overcrowded … where she is raped, assaulted, stabbed and beaten after she complains to the jail about being sexually harassed -- the guards shared that with the prisoners and sh was punished as a "snitch" ... the case is dismissed but now her problems are even worse …

She gets arrested 2 more times, is convicted of a non-violent drug use offense  … spends 5 days in jail, probation, violates probation by testing positive for painkillers and then overdoses when she is released …

That overdose is what puts her into contact with breaking there addiction …

She then becomes an activist to help others ... goes to DC to raise awareness attending committee hearings as a speaker but discovers Bobby Rush, a sponsor of some of the hearings,  is nowhere to be seen — he has the worst absenteeism rate of any congress member —  and then she decides to run for office …

Her activism is big in the African American community side of the district (51 percent black 49 percent white — Chicago to Orland Park) ...

She is an Egyptian American and Muslim, 33, was a med student before being hit by a DUI and suffering terrible injuries, but is now in law school 3rd year …

    Her website is www.SarahGad2020.com

The first district includes all or parts of Alsip, Blue Island, Calumet Park, Chicago, Country Club Hills, Crestwood, Dixmoor, Elwood, Evergreen Park, Frankfort, Frankfort Square, Harvey, Manhattan, Markham, Merrionette Park, Midlothian, Mokena, New Lenox, Oak Forest, Oak Lawn, Orland Hills, Orland Park, Palos Heights, Posen, Riverdale, Robbins, Tinley Park, and Worth.

  • 01-31-2020 Deal or Steal of the Century, Palestinian failures, and the 3rd Il District battle
01-31-2020 Deal or Steal of the Century, Palestinian failures, and the 3rd Il District battle
Its Friday JANUARY 31, 2020 … I’m Ray Hanania, special US Correspondent for the Arab News Newspaper … and you’re listening to THE ARAB STREET Radio & Podcast broadcast from Detroit, Michigan through 690 AM WNZK Radio …
THE ARAB STREET Radio & Podcast is a part of the US Arab Radio Network hosted by Laila Alhusini … in an effort to energize and empower Arab Americans to stand up for their rights … for more information go to my website at www.Hanania.com … and afterwards on podcast on iTunes, Spotify, or by visiting my podcast website www.TheArabStreet.org.
The radio show call-in number is 248-557-3300
Our topics this morning: We look at President Trump's Deal/Steal of the Century and the failure of the Palestinian leadership to stand up and fight diplomatically for Two States. We also talk with listeners and discuss the election battle in the 3rd Congressional District which has the largest concentration of Palestinian American voters between Congressman Dan Lipinski, Marie Newman and Rush Darwish and why Lipinski is most certainly going to win re-election.
President Trump with Israel’s Benjamin Netanyahu wearing a Cheshire cat-smile at Trumps side unveiled his “Deal of the Century” peace plan this week … is it a “Deal of the Century” or is it the “Steal of the Century.”
We will be talking about the “Deal” which is really no deal at all but Israel, the US and even three Arab countries Oman, the UAE and Bahrain say it is a good start … everyone else is denouncing it but Israel doesn’t care about everyone else anyway … they are going to go ahead with annexation of the Jordan Valley and move forward knowing the Palestinians have already said no – even before the plan was unveiled.
I think the plan stinks … but, I also think the Palestinians should have been there to say so and demand changes, put forth a new plan, lay out a new map and stop making themselves the excuse for peace failure … if peace fails as it will, Israel will go ahead with it anyway, and squeeze the Palestinians into Bantustans – the South African word for the Apartheid hovels that Africans were pushed into until they fought back and threw off the South African racists …
But Palestinians are not fighting back … they should have fought on the diplomatic stage to strengthen their case … instead, Palestinians remain fractured, dysfunctional, hopeless and with no options except anger and screaming … and the Palestinians, especially the activists love to scream …
Can you imagine if Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas participated in the Trump-Netanyahu press conference and SAID I support this plan as a starting point for discussions and negotiations and I am here to support the Two-State Solution and make a viable plan work? Netanyahu would have had a heart attack. They would have carried Netanyahu off of the stage on a stretcher yelling that he is rejecting the plan and a Two-State solution.
Another important point to keep in mind as the Palestinians criticize and blame everything on President Trump … the Democrats have not done anything better … they spoke about Two-States but did nothing. They never embraced the Palestinian demand for justice and have been walking every step of the way with the Republicans and even in the same direction as Trump … the Democrats just do it with a smile and a few empty, nice words …
When will the Palestinians wake up, and instead of rejecting strategy they reject the extremists instead like Hamas, like the activists here in the US who know how to destroy things but have no idea on how to build things up
The Deal of the Century may be the Steal of the Century to many, but it is also the Meal of the Century to Palestinian activists … the one thing Jared Kushner said right was, and I quote from my news report in the Arab News this week after intevriewing him:
Kushner gave a stern warning to the Palestinians, saying the plan “is negotiable,” criticizing calls for “days of rage” from the Palestinian leadership who he accused of defending the status quo.
“While this has gone on, Israel continues to take more and more land and they haven’t been interested in getting a deal done,” Kushner said.
“And then the Palestinians, they just continue to get billions of dollars of aid from a lot of countries throughout the world. They have made this an international cause. They have built a good business off of it. A lot of their leaders are rich, their friends are rich, their families are rich and they really don’t care about the people.”
    click to read the column
Wake up people, especially the Palestinians …y ou can’t possibly accept the Palesrtinian reaction of just rejection and no action, no response … Israel has been taking everything while we whined, cried, suffered, and engaged in anger and violence, including against our own people who have DEMANDED MORE … yes, I demand more from the Palestinian leadership and the activists .. I demand they wake up and use their brains instead of whipping up the people hoping they will put their lives on the line again and launch a new intifada of violence against Israel’s racist violence … put Israel on the spot for the American pubic to see and build up a coalition with Israel’s moderate Jewish leadership and the moderate Jewish world … stop pushing them away with your fanaticism and anger and even hatred …

The radio show call-in number is 248-557-3300

    Our topics this morning:
Israel has 3rd new elections … that will take place in March …
Trump ordered the murder of Qassem Suleimani, an Iranian general Trump asserts is responsible for terrorism … as if George Bush wasn’t responsible for terrorism or Dick Cheney wasn’t responsible for terrorism or Britain’s former terrorist in chief Tony Blair isn’t a terrorist …
These days no one has to go to court to do anything, they do it the Israeli way, murder by political fortune teller …
What’s the consequences of the attack on Soleimani not in Iran but in Iraq, and the American pro-Israel political agenda in which many Iraqis have been killed during the strike … In every media analysis about the Soleimani murder, the media quotes former Mossad and Israeli leaders on the consequences … did we do this to make Israel happy? Again? We put America in jeopardy again to do Israel’s biddings? Wow?
Did Trump kill Soleimani to help Israelis indicted and besieged prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu win who are facing possible indictment before the International Criminal Court
So far, I haven’t heard one person say specifically which American’s Soleimani is alleged to have been responsible for killing … but we don’t need a judicial system any more …we just do the Israeli thing and kill people first and then call them terrorists and their families terrorists and anyone who defends them as terrorists, too
How do people in Greater Detroit feel … Greater Detroit has one of the largest concentrations of Iraqis, Chaldeans .. Christians and Muslims …
Will the killing of Soleimani open a pandora’s box of violence similar to what happened when the US attacked Iraqi illegally in 2003? How many Iraqis were killed in that war that has continued for more than 16 years without end?
What do Iraqis in America think about Trump’s attack and was it Trump or Pompeo who ordered the killing and Trump just went along?
We’re going to talk about a lot of this stuff with Imad Hamad, the executive director of the American Human Rights Council and a former executive director of the once powerful Michigan Chapter of the ADC, American Anti-Discrimination Committee …

  • Arab Radio on Gaza, Israeli & Palestinian Elections, Trump's assault on free speech
Arab Radio on Gaza, Israeli & Palestinian Elections, Trump's assault on free speech
December 13, 2019 WNZK AM 690 Radio Live; The Arab street Radio and Podcast
Radio Host and award winning Columnist with the Arab News Newspaper Ray Hanania discusses with listeners and guests the news about Israel, Palestine, the United States, President Trump and the Middle East.
Topics include a discussion about Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib and her vote against the Two-State Solution in the U.S. Congress. She opposed a resolution that was introduced by a majority of the Democratic Congress. It had some flaws, failing to use the word "occupation" but endorsing the Two-State Solution for peace between Israel and Palestine.
We talk about indicted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his corrupt administration, and his failure to form a new government for the second time. Israel will now hold it's 3rd elections, giving Palestinian Israeli citizens the ability to vote and force change bringing true Democracy and Civil Rights to Apartheid Israel.
We also talk with listeners including Jerry Habba, a listener in Great Detroit. And we are joined during the second half of the radio show by Ali Younes, the journalist with Al Jazeera English talking about Israeli elections, Rashida Tlaib, his recent visit to Gaza and the strength and resiliency of the Palestinians who live under Israel's brutal and vicious oppressive embargo. Gaza is an open-air prison and Israel shoots and kills Palestinians at will. Netanyahu uses Gaza as a means of strengthening his failing politics by attacking Gaza when he needs votes and killing men, women and even children ...
And we wish Arab Christians around the world a Merry Christmas and freedom one day for Bethlehem, which has been ignored by American Christians.

  • Mohamed Hadid files bankruptcy 11-30-19
    11-30-19 Mohamed Hadid files bankruptcy
Mohamed Hadid, the father of supermodels Bella and Gigi Hadid, has been forced to file bankruptcy over a dispute involving a mega-mansion he is trying to expand and renovate in Bel Air overlooking Los Angeles. But the property, which started at 15,000 square feet, has been expanded to 30,000 square feet and to seven stories in height. It overlooks a bluff on the side of a mountain in Bel Air and some of his neighbors are upset by the size and claim they fear the property might not hold and could fall.
They have filed suit against Hadid, who is Palestinian American, to stop the project and have enlisted a lot of local politicians. Hadid filed bankruptcy for the company he owns building and renovating the property. The tear-down of the property reportedly will cost Hadid $5 million. Bankruptcy will save that cost for him. But the bankruptcy does not include him personally, according to his lawyer.
I wonder if some of his trouble stem from the fact that he is Palestinian? His ex-wife is Yolanda who starred in the TV reality series "Housewives of Los Angeles."
Here's an overview of Hadid's troubles and the neighbors who are upset.

  • Arab Radio: Ray Hanania and Ali Younes on Arabs running for Congress in 2020
Arab Radio: Ray Hanania and Ali Younes on Arabs running for Congress in 2020
11-08-19 from WNZK AM 690 Radio in Detroit
Ray Hanania, Special US Correspondent for the Arab News, and Ali Younes, reporter with AlJazeera, discuss the various Arab Americans who are running either for re-election to Congress such as Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib and Justin Amash, or who are running to win office such as Omar Campa-Najjar and Rush Darwish.
We dig into the race in the Illinois 3rd Congressional District held by incumbent Democrat Dan Lipinski who is being challenge by Marie Newman, who almost beat Lipinski in March 2018, and is running again in the March 17, 2020 Democratic Primary. Also in the race is Rush Darwish, a Palestinian American who has been attacked by the pro-Israel anti-Arab Chicago Sun-Times newspaper. Also in the race is Abe Matthew.
And we talk about Ammar Campa-Najjar, a Palestinian running for office in California. Campa-Najjar, 28, never met his grandfather, Muhammad Yusuf al-Najjar, who died in 1973 along with his wife (Campa-Najjar's grandmother) when they were targeted by an Israeli kill-squad. Campa-Najjar's grandfather was one of the planners of the massacre of Israelis at the Munich Olympics in 1972, before Campa-Najjar was even born. The Republican he is challenging has been accused of corruption. Campa-Najjar is half Mexican American (on his mother's side) and half Palestinian but the Republican incumbent Duncan Hunter. By Campa-Najjar has strong support from Democrats and came close to defeating Hunter in 2018.
We also discuss the turbulent candidacy of Rashida Tlaib in Michigan and the candidacy of Ilhan Omar in Minnesota.
