What does my daily process look like?

Every day, well, week day, I create a new piece of content and share it to over 20 platforms.

I do that during my lunch break.

It took me a while to be able to do that within an hour, but now my process is pretty stream lined.

I create a 30 minute video in the morning and upload it to a server in the cloud that I have remote desktop to.

I start a script that runs for about 1 hour which extracts the following from it:

1- Full length WAV file

2- Regular JPG Thumbnail for videos

3- Square JPG Thumbnail for podcasts

4- 600p GIF for email and posts that support GIF

5- Short video with trailer

I bet you’ve heard how important it is to post regularly, even daily and multiple times a day if you want to build a business online.

The truth is that there is so much competition now that if you don’t post regularly, you’ll miss out.

Your audience will stop following you because they’ll see someone else post regularly.

Automation to the rescue

If you didn’t know, Facebook, YouTube, Pinterest and Twitter allow you to schedule posts ahead of time.

You can create a dozen or hundreds of posts ahead of time and schedule them so they post at the same time every day, or at specific times.

This means you can create all your content for the month if you want in one or a few days and then you are done for that time.

I love it because it’s truly a set and forget type of tool.

I’ve setup posts in there 4 years ago that still give me leads.

The other tools I use, like Buffer or OnlyWire need to be “fed” to be useful.

Yesterday I talked about automation with Buffer so I thought I’d talk about another tool I use called OnlyWire.

The name of the tool comes from the fact it’s meant to share urls.

The easiest thing is to share your blog posts and others you like.

I use it to share my blog posts across a ton of other networks.

What can you do with OnlyWire?

They even support MySpace and I was tempted to create an account just to see!

So, you can create a new post and share it to all these networks at the same time!

What does buffer allow you to do?

Buffer is a social media posting automation tool.

It lets you create queues for your social media accounts and then schedule the postings.

You can post to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn and Pinterest.

For each platform, you can have multiple queues.

Additionally, you can post to a Facebook Page, a Facebook Group, a LinkedIn profile and a LinkedIn page.

Posts can be text only, image only or both (depending on the platform)

You can’t post to Facebook profile, only pages and groups or Instagram personal account, only business.

If you’re building a business online you know you have to be using social media platforms.

I don’t need to tell you that you need to post images.

The thing about images is that unless you’re a graphic designer, you’re not always posting great images.

There’s a pretty cool free online tool you can use called Canva.

Setting up your Canva account

Canva is quite powerful

Even the free account lets you do an awful lot.

To setup your account, just go to https://canva.com and click the Sign up button on top.

Then you can choose to use Facebook, Google or email to join.

Select the one you prefer, but I recommend Facebook option.

Canva lets you create an image in any size.

It let’s you add pictures on it, shapes, text and even videos.

If you are building a business online, you definitely need an auto responder.

It’s the tool that lets you create an email list and have subscribers.

Without an auto responder, you’d have to keep your email list in your email client or some document!

This would make it really hard to email to them when your list grows to over 100.

You can create a course lots of different ways.

One way is to plan out your course, the modules and the lessons and then record everything, one lesson at a time.

I did that a few times.

It works great when you have the time for sure and is probably best.

Using existing video

What if your topic is super easy for you and you already did a video for it?

You can also strip out sections in an existing video.

There are lots of tools to do this.

Camtasia, Windows Movie Player, iMovie, even YouTube lets you do it online.

Personally, I use geek stuff, a command line tool called ffmpeg.

How do you plan your course?

Before even getting to that point though, you still need to plan your course.

You’ll need to decide on the following:

- Course title

- Course summary

- Course details or full description

- Course cover photo or thumbnail

- Course lesson list and titles

If there’s one thing you need to know it’s how to use Personal Branding on social media.

I know that when I started online almost 5 years ago, I thought personal branding was pretty obvious.

If you think of a brand, names like Coca Cola, WalMart, Bandaid, Nike or Kleenex come to mind.

Even the Brand names Bandaid or Kleenex are so intertwined in our life, that we use them as object names.
