The NBA’s sports gambling scandal continues to escalate as the league has now asked the Los Angeles Lakers and multiple other teams to turn over phones, documents, and internal records connected to the investigation into illegal sports betting.

This follows the arrests of Damon Jones, LeBron James’ former shooting coach.. along with Chauncey Billups and Terry Rozier for their alleged roles in illegal betting and underground poker games with possible mafia ties. While conspiracy theories online try to drag major stars like LeBron into the drama, there’s no indication top players are involved, and the NBA appears focused on cracking down quickly to protect the integrity of a season with ratings at an all-time high.

Today we have some WNBA CBA updates… the never ending CBA negotiations continue and the official deadline for the league. The WNBA has offered players a 30 day extension for a new collective bargaining agreement. The extension would allow both sides more time to work toward a new deal. A source said players would be open to the extension to avoid a work stoppage under the right circumstances, but those circumstances do not exist.

Basically the players at this point in time are saying they’re not sure if they’re even going to accept the offer of an extension. They can either accept the extension offered, not take the extension but continue negotiating in good faith, OR thirdly… the players could strike, OR the owners can initiate the lockout.
