In today’s episode I take some time up top to discuss a trend I’m seeing in the questions I’m receiving: a lot of people are struggling in their work lives and a lot of people feel like their lives are not turning out as they’d imagined. I talk a bit about how social media’s hamster wheel of an algorithm has warped how we perceive other people’s success, how we perceive our own success and how unhappy that’s made us. Then I discuss why I started COVEN QUORUM (it’s sort of sappy), what I hope it can achieve (even on a small scale), and why I think listening to other people’s issues and questions reminds us of our humanity. When we struggle we usually feel intensely alone in our struggle, while in actuality there are so many going through the same thing.

Keeping on theme our first question comes from a woman who feels behind in every aspect of her life and wonders if things can change.

Next, listener asks when she is supposed to “settle down.” (spoiler: I hate that term (but obvi not the person who asked the question!))

And last, I weigh in on whether it makes sense to keep feeding that retirement account, despite fears of economic collapse.

Next I advise on a tense baby shower invitation. Should you, or shouldn’t you attend a big event when the friendship is in a less than perfect place.

Then I tackle the joys and perils of a multi-cat household when a listener asks, “Should I get my cat a cat?!?” Is the current cat emotionally manipulative?? Or does he really need a friend?!?

Last I cover a question close to my heart - how to accept and make peace with identity changes in the wake of major trauma.

In this episode, my most topical yet (!!!), I tackle the Tour De France, which ended weeks ago. Then I give advice on rockstars, instagram unfollows, and the friends-to-lovers pipeline, while of course peppering stories from my own life to back up all my claims.
