Everyone in the whole world has sinned and needs a savior. We need to acknowledge this. Furthermore, scripture is clear that we cannot save ourselves. There is no other savior but Jesus. This is the heartbeat of Mary's song (The Magnificat) found in Luke. Mary is a humble servant—the vessel through which the incarnation occurs. But she is clear that she is still human and has the same need for a savior that we all experience. She articulates for us postures through which we, too, can receive this. Just as with Mary, Jesus comes and dwells in us. May our song be "Live in me, grow in me so I can be who you want me to be." May our life's witness begin and end with the truth that we have a savior in Jesus.
