While these verses were directed to Christian slaves in Peter's day and how they would respond to their masters, the principles that Peter teaches can easily be applied to the behavior of Christian employees toward their employers or supervisors, mangers, etc. It's all about submission.

Contrary to the opinion of many, the primary focus and work of the Church of Christ is not social, financial or political reform which are all about man's relationship to man. In the context of the slavery of his day, Peter neither condemns slavery nor condones it. His focus is on the slaves attitude and behavior towards his master -as it appears in the sight of God.-
