Today we are going to look at the second secondary benefit: peace of conscience. In Acts 24, Paul says that this is something he always laboured to possess.

We have been working our way through the book of 2 Samuel in our morning sermons. The focus of the section we are in now is the sin in David's home because of his sin. With chapter 13, we have seen the beginnings of these troubles, first with the rape of David's daughter Tamar by here half-brother Amnon, followed by the vigilante murder of Amnon by Absalom. Today, we take up chapter 14, we see David waffling and therefore easily manipulated.

Today we will begin looking at the secondary benefits we have in Christ in this life. We will consider the first of these: assurance of God's love.

Vengeance is something we almost always get wrong. Inappropriate vengeance causes perpetual conflict in countless individual relationships, families, and nations. Intrigue, violence, and carnage are the outcome. At the same time, a lack of appreciation for the proper exercise of vengeance has been every bit as destructive to our human family. It spreads the delusion that God will not judge. We desperately need to get vengeance in the right perspective. That is our subject today.

Today's subject is sanctification. Sanctification means that we are set apart to God—to live for Him.
