Today, we will continue our sermon series in Samuel at 2 Samuel 13. We have seen David's great sin. Here we see the consequences in his oldest son, Amnon.

What a wonderful thing to know that even though we are sinners, God has fully accepted us through faith in Jesus Christ! But as we shall see this week, there is more than a mere acceptance! This week we will see that He also adopts us as His own sons!

It is often said today that a leader's personal life does not affect his ability to lead. This is not true at any level of leadership. 2 Sam 12:26-31 gives us some helpful instruction about that. Our text is the end of a literary sandwich that began in chapter 10 where you have one story inside of another story to associate them with each other.

Today, we will continue our sermon series in 2 Samuel. We are in chapter 12. Last week, we saw how God graciously sent Nathan and delivered David from sin that had overtaken him. Today's reading (2 Sam 12:13-25) overlaps with last week's at David's confession. We are going to focus on the clear sense of God's mercy that David has.

Last week we began looking at the benefits we have from our redemption in this life. Now we are ready to look in more detail at the first benefit. You all like to be justified. It is something that everyone desires. It means that you are accepted and thought well of.

Last week, we looked at one of the most disappointing chapters in the Bible—2 Sam 11. Here, godly David uses the authority God gave him to advance his own sinful agenda. David's authority is seen in sending people to do whatever he wants. In chapter 12, which we take up today, it is now God who does the sending.
