“Transcontinental Railroad-150th Anniversary.”  This special episode of “Cowboy Tracks” commemorates the 150th anniversary of the first Transcontinental Railroad.  On May 10, 1869 the Golden Spike was driven into the rail track at Promontory Summit, Utah signaling the completion of the first American transcontinental railroad. This is considered the single most significant engineering achievement of the entire 19th century and it forever altered the development of the West. “Cowboy Poetry Week.”  This episode is a celebration of Cowboy Poetry Week. We’ll hear top cowboy poems, traditional and new, recited by the leading cowboy poets. The Center for Western and Cowboy Poetry (cowboypoetry.com) is the prime resource for all-things cowboy poetry-related and I drew upon their resources in preparing the show.
