On Feb. 15th, 1897, the Sunshine State saw the opening of its first locally owned and operated brewery in Ybor City. Florida Brewing Co was the first brewery located in the southeastern United States and served to quench the thirsts of hundreds of cigar rollers working in the area. While the brewery is no longer in operation, it is the starting point of a long and proud brewing tradition that you are helping to continue.

To that end, we would like to recognize Feb. 15th, every year as ‘Florida Craft Beer Day’, a day where we all can celebrate the economic, cultural, and societal impact that brewing has made in the Sunshine State.

Craft Life has opened the doors to host this 6th annual event recognized by and blessed by Tampa Mayor Jane Castor!

You can take part at your local brewery or in your home, please share this event with anyone that may want to support Florida's Craft Beer! Use the hashtag #FLCBD2021 and join our simultoast!

WHY IS THIS DAY IMPORTANT?

GREAT BEER

Good beer is hard to come by, well at least in other states! This historic day kicked off a movement that would eventually aid in leading craft beer to the point it is today, nearly 7,000+ breweries nationwide!

PAYING JOBS

This day should be celebrated for the millions of economic and personal jobs the industry fulfills around the world! To date, beer is responsible for over 2,000,000 jobs!

GOOD PEOPLE

Beer brings people together. Sporting events, outdoor activities, nightlife and more. People love to enjoy beer. The economics don't lie, the beer industry is worth $111.4 billion to our economy.

WHAT DOES ALL THIS MEAN TO FLORIDA?

In the state of Florida alone, the total impact of beer measures to some extremely staggering numbers. The Beer industry also, loves to give back. The following statistics are from the a recent NBWA report.

Florida beer is responsible for:

22,483 Florida Jobs

$1,265,029,242 in wages and salaries

$655,155,163 in Federal and state taxes paid.

TAMPA, FL (FEBRUARY 4, 2021) Cigar City Brewing (CCB), Florida’s premier craft brewery, announces details for the 2021 release of Hunahpu's Imperial Stout, a monolithic dark beer brewed with cinnamon, vanilla, cacao nibs and chile peppers. First released in 2010, Hunahpu’s Imperial Stout has become one of craft beer’s most coveted small-batch beers. This year, the brewery will continue its annual tradition of releasing bottles of the massive, complex Imperial Stout directly to consumers at its Spruce Street Taproom beginning Friday, March 12. CCB will offer 750 mL bottles of Hunahpu’s Imperial Stout alongside 500 mL bottles of Bourbon Barrel-aged Hunahpu’s Imperial Stout, a rare and decadent variation. The release will be facilitated via a lottery system designed specifically for the brewery by Oznr Craft Beverage Marketplace, representing an innovative new approach to the highly anticipated release. The lottery is open through February 12.

Lottery sign-ups for (2) bottles of 2021 Hunahpu’s Imperial Stout will take place from 10 a.m. EST Saturday, Jan. 30 until 11:59 p.m. EST Friday, Feb 12. Lottery winners will be selected and notified on Saturday, Feb 13.

Lottery entry will require entering your credit card information, but your card will only be charged if you are selected as a lottery winner.
