Hello everybody welcome back Craig Peter song here WGAN online live on YouTube and Facebook you can watch the replays if you want you can just go to Craig Peterson comm slash YouTube if that's where you want to go, or Craig Peterson com slash Facebook. And both of those will take you to where you want to be. And today we've been talking a lot about password so far. Want to point you to Craig Peterson comm slash reports. That's a lot of slashes isn't it. But it takes you right to where you want to be. Or right now on the homepage, you'll get the free special report on the whole thing about passwords here this 10 page report and comparisons between different types of password, you know, pros and cons, password managers by just going to Craig Peterson calm and signing up on the homepage if you don't have that report so far. Now, last week, we gave out this quick start guide. That is never I have never ever given away before. It's always been part of a paid program. We had a few dozen people who picked it up. So congrats to you guys and gals. This is absolutely phenomenal. It is such a good report. So don't miss out this week on my password special report. And then we'll have another one next week. Because we have quite a few of these, we've been producing them getting them out and everybody's hand. And you can get them quite simply. And if you're already signed up on my list, if you're getting my emails, you can pick those up as well. And we link to them in the emails and you can grab them by signing up again, on the on the homepage, you'll only get one copy my email, you can use the same email address, so don't worry about that.

We have our phones right there, there's always a newer better phone out there. My phone, if you're watching here on on camera, this phone and I've done this for years has a battery on the back. So the phone is actually not this big. But what the battery lets me do is keep it pretty much fully charged, which is nice. So I do let the battery run down every once in a while lithium ion batteries don't have the same memory problem. As the older types of batteries used to have right? Then nickel metal hydride, and then nine cabs, they were the worst, they were just terrible. So this is really a great little thing that you can do. By the way, it's really handy. So let's talk about this whole thing about phones. There's always a new one, right? We've got the new phones from Google, new phones from Samsung new phones from Apple. How long do you keep your phones for? I tend to keep mine for four or five years. Typically, if there's a feature I really need to have, then I'll get one. But the I still have an iPhone eight. And I got this because I wanted the 4k video. And it turned out I didn't really need it. You know, my whole studio is entirely 4k video that I used to do my trainings and produce some of these different types of videos that I do, right the classes and things. So it's, you know, 4k. So I figured, well, I need to have a 4k camera on my phone in case I want to shoot something. And that just hasn't worked out. I just haven't bother doing that. So what I have done, however, is I have made my phone last as long as I can, right? I don't know, maybe I'm cheap. But But I don't need the latest greatest. I just need the features, right? I buy a phone because of the features. Don't buy a phone because of what I think other people will think of me. But you know, that's me, I have a buddy always buys the latest iPhone always, even though he doesn't even know how to use this silly thing is always buying the latest. And I you know, I think he likes toys. But more than that, I think he he thinks that brings little status to him. And if he's listening right now, he probably knows who he is. So anyways, if you keep your phone for five years, do you realize that you may only have one more phone to buy before phones are obsolete. That is a real fight. Frankly, we're seeing artificial intelligence showing up everywhere. Now I talked about this a lot. My last show, we talked about some of the AI some of the deep fake stuff we talked about the AI the G is using in GS latest car, DR. x ray machine, that's what it is, is a whole set system. And it detects some various types of lung problems, energy texts it in just 15 minutes instead of eight hours, which is what has been taken. So that's really cool. That's what you like to see. Now Amazon has out their new Samuel L Jackson announcement, where he's going to replace the standard voice that's there in your Alexa in your Echo device. And they are also going to have some other voices, but much of its going to be artificially created. There is the other side to this. And there were many, many people who are complaining about the other side, which is when you give a command to one of these devices, if you say turn on the lights, or what's the weather for today, it records what you're saying. And it sends it up to the cloud. Now Apple does not do this apple, most of the processing actually happens in your phone. So your voice isn't recorded. Google and Amazon and some of these others, were using third party contractors to listen to what you said, in order to determine if it did the right thing, which is legitimate, right? You You want to improve the quality, and how else you're going to do it unless you have a human listen to it as well. And so that's what they've been doing. And people got very upset. So Amazon has an automatic feature. Now you can turn on that. delete your recordings, after three months, or 18 months. So the longer you can keep your recordings, the better can understand you because it uses those older recordings to analyze to figure out what you might be asking for what you might be saying etc, right. So all of that is available right there for you from our friends at Amazon. Well, this voice recognition keeps getting better and better and better and better. And we've got an entrepreneur, Gary venue, Chuck, who I have followed in the past as well, Brian little guy, actually is not that small. And he is quoted here in an article from the Daily Star over in the UK, I'm going to pull this up here on my screen. Okay, so that's the last one, let's push over here, okay. And what he's saying is that AI is going to connect us to the internet from anywhere and everywhere. And it's going to let us just talk to our devices to access any information or make any purchases. So basically, what he's saying we'll see in the future is a very simple system where we're wearing maybe like a Dick Tracy watch, think of an Apple Watch, is Apple Watches now even have built into them cellular data modems. So think of something like an Apple Watch. And you're not going to have to type a single thing, which is just absolutely amazing. He was speaking at the World Congress on information technology in Yerevan, Armenia, and he said that humans will only have to speak to an AI that is everywhere around us to get what we want. That part's a little concerning to me, right?

Ai is everywhere. Well, if it's on your wrist, that's, that's not really everywhere, you can certainly turn it off, you can leave it at home, etc. But we have seen some amazing AI technology in our homes. And I have to agree with him on that one. Because we have my wife, one of my daughters, I think was the first in our house to get one of these Amazon Alexa echo devices. But there they are everywhere. And we're going to talk at the end of the show today. I've got a couple of really cool fun articles, we're going to talk about some of the ways this technology is going that I certainly wasn't expecting. But we've we've got to be able to who get access to the stuff we want when we want it when we want it. So it's we're going to have the systems tied into our cars and our homes, everybody, our offices. He said there be no reason to grab your phone in the morning to see what the weather is. If you have software like Microsoft Outlook, for instance, for email, it's using a type of artificial intelligence to determine whether or not it should show you an email article. So this stuff is coming. It's here already and within 10 years that for me that's two phone cycles. I'm going to have two more phones. We won't have any of this stuff anymore. So you can watch this live Craig Peterson comm slash YouTube or Craig peterson.com slash Facebook. You can see the video. And of course you're listening right now on WGAN. Will you'll find us on both am and FM stick around We'll be right back.

We of course are here on WGAN radio am and FM. We are also streaming on Facebook and YouTube. And you can watch the replays there as well go to Craig Peterson dot com slash YouTube. Or if your Facebook fan go to Craig Peterson dot com slash Facebook. Now we're told constantly that we should not lie to the bank. Right? We shouldn't lie to the federal government we shouldn't lie to anybody, right? It's not what we were taught as kids. While a very interesting article from Mashable, I'll put it up on my screen for those people who are watching it on on replay or live here. But business email compromise and tax up by to 69%. We know that already. Right? What is one of the ways business email compromise attacks work? Well, they work by finding out information about you. So what better way to find out information about you then if they have compromised your account at some website? And they got answer to those questions that are for account recovery? What better way for the bad guys to be able to scam you? Now we're all using various types of password recovery me I use something on my iPhone, and it's called duo. I don't know if you've heard of this before. This is what we use for our customers. So what will happen is, I want to log into a website, it asks me for my username, my password, Vinod asks me to under my one time password. Now that's an interesting one, because what's the word time password? Well, that's what do Oh, and some of these others that are out there will give you. And that's why we've got so much information on passwords day, that 10 page, special report that you can grab by going to Craig Peterson calm, and sign up on the homepage, you'll get that password special report. Make sure By the way, I noticed quite a few people had forgotten to click on the confirmation email, because I don't want to spam anybody. And sometimes people sign up a million of the closest friends for newsletters just to annoy them. So I need you, once you've signed up to go to your email box right away, and click on that email link so that I can confirm it really is you. It's not somebody else trying to punk you as it were. So if you go to Craig Peterson calm you sign up, I'm going to give you this 10 page special piece of really password knowledge, right? I don't even know what to call it. We call it a special report around here. But it's going to give you a lot of good stuff. So what we're talking about right now, though, is password recovery. Now, if you are using one of these types of apps like duo that allow you to, to do these types of secure logins, there's others, there's like Google Authenticator, which is free, but does not provide all of the stuff you need as a real business, right? Where you have the groups of people, and it's tied into your Active Directory server, so that when people's email addresses change, it all changes, right? So Google Authenticator doesn't have that most of the others don't have that Microsoft has their own authenticator, of course, because they're Microsoft. And, and so it's all good stuff. But Craig Peterson, calm, make sure you sign up, you'll get that. So what this article from Mashable is talking about is why you should lie on your password recovery questions. Now, I do that all the time. All the time. And the idea behind the line, I think is is a little confusing to people, because we're not talking about out now lies. What we're talking about is when it asks you, What school did you go to? Don't tell it what school you went to. But I can hear you saying right now, Craig? Craig, how am I supposed to remember it if I'm lying about everything all the time, because my mother always told me, if you don't lie, you're never going to get caught up in a lie. And you don't have to remember everything that you told everybody. And the same thing is true here. Right? That does not make sense. That if you are lying on the application for every website, you're going to how are you going to remember all of us? Well, that's where the password managers come in again. So what I do

is, when when I am signing up, and it asks me, what high school did you go to? Is that going to my password manager now I personally use one password. I love it. I love the group ability in it. We have to for my family, we have different teams at work. We have teams, for instance, that that have to have bars compliant, or I tars compliant, where they make stuff for the military, there's subcontractor, we have all kinds of these types of people. So how do we have that? What do we do? Well, obviously, we don't want people that don't need access, to have access to passwords, these passwords, right? It's a whole concept of limited access, minimal access, minimal privileges. And that's what I love about one password. So it's great for that last pass is another one, they have a free version that works pretty darn well. And they do have some group features, something you're going to have to decide. But open the notes section in one password. And right there in the notes. I can tell it, hey, I want to remember this fake pass this fake school I went to, etc. So I'm going to in fact, I'm going to do this right now if you're watching on the replay or you're watching live, I'm going to go back to this Mashable article. Because they've got a screen capture, I don't want to show you my my screen capture of my real one password, right? Because that would be giving away stuff that I don't really want to give away. So this is a note. And one password has the ability to do notes as well as last excuse me as last pass. And you can see here in the note it same bank account recovery question one where did you go to high school? bank account recovery answer one. So this is just stuff they've typed in. And it's got completely lately random characters about it looks like he did a palm smash on the keyboard almost. And it remembers it. And it'll remember all of your passwords this way. Well, your account recovery questions, as well as your passwords. I like the way one password does it better than I like the way it's been done here in last pass, but they are absolutely phenomenal. And there are many, many, many of these types of pieces of software out there password managers. And that's why I you know, I put together the password manager special report at Craig Peterson calm if you haven't got it already, make sure you sign up. So that's that you're looking at it right now. So that's what I try and take care of, and I that's how I do it, okay, I don't give the bank my real information. And don't feel bad about it, right? You're not trying to defraud the bank, you are trying to defraud the criminals that might steal the information from the bank, the mind, try and do it for a spear phishing attack that they can use for business email compromise. Now, it sounds really complicated, and in many ways that it can be. But it's simple if you're using a password manager. And that's the whole point here. That's what I want you guys to do. And that's going to help a lot in the future, because your accounts probably already been compromised. So you're going to go in the first thing with a password manager and create new passwords, you're going to use the one time password function that is in one password, or maybe the Google Authenticator one, you're going to tie it all together so that you can keep safe, you should be using a unique password for every single website you're on. And new recovery questions for every single website you're on. Because when one platform gets hacked, or what they end up doing is something called password stuffing. And they see all okay, well, we've got this password from the Reddit account. And they're going to try that password now on on Bank of America and you name it out there and see if that password works. So different passwords. Remember Google, Gmail, Twitter, Reddit, Spotify, Netflix, YouTube, everything. And that way they can't leverage and attack and this is the article talks about that includes Dunkin Donuts, right? You don't want the same type of passwords and recovery for Dunkin Donuts as you have for your bank account. So make sure you use unique passwords is kind of theme for today. And that's why we've put it up online at Craig Peterson calm. When you sign up. You're going to get that password special report and follow it we've got some step by step stuff in there. And we'll be right back. Stick around.

Hey, here we go Craig Peterson here. And shout out to everybody who is watching this live on video up on YouTube and on Facebook, which is kind of cool. Actually, we're going to be doing some hopefully some cool stuff here over the next little while as we get some of the newer technologies into the studio going to be doing live interviews and, and putting the videos up and everything else. So you can you can see me if you just go to Craig Peterson comm slash YouTube, for instance, you can see the video will make sure it gets saved up there, in case you're listening, and you want to go back and see what my little studio was like. So this is part of it. One of these days, maybe we'll give you a tour of the studio and all the equipment that we have here. But anyways, it is primarily an audio show a lot of people getting on podcast, we've been thinking about maybe putting up some of the podcast as video podcasts as well. But that's a whole separate thing. So for now, YouTube and Facebook. And you can find all of those just by going to Craig Peterson comm slash Facebook. And for those of you who are watching this, you'll see at the bottom, we've got a special offer for this week. Last week, we gave out this quick start guide. And the Quick Start Guide is really designed for people who wanted to get their businesses going. And this is it here I printed it up. I've got it in my hand, you can see it on the cameras if you're watching live or the replays. But we I go through a whole ton of stuff in here never given this away for free. So that was last week, we got a house flying here. And this week, we are doing something a little bit different. We have our password cheat sheet. And we're going to be making some more of these things. Hold fully, you got all the security summer stuff, if you had signed up for the security summer. And you know, I've sent out 28 of these cheat sheets, almost 100 pages of information about what you should be doing as a home user, as a business user, as someone who's retired etc. If you missed any of them, let me know when I'll be glad to get those out to you. And the easiest way to get ahold of me is just email me at Craig Peterson calm. If you're the type of person who really loves to use texting, you just pick up your phone, and you can text me directly at 855-385-5553. So let's get started. Today we've got a number of articles, we're going to talk about this massive spike that is costing businesses here in the US and around the world, over $12 billion dollars in the last couple of years. It is really, really, really huge. And what I'm going to do, as we through this, if you're watching live or watching in the replay, I'm going to put up the article up on the screen that I'm talking about. So you can kind of see it, and you can follow along a little bit at home. But business email compromise. This is something where the bad guys are going and sending typically phishing emails. And nowadays, it's not just regular phishing, we're talking about spear phishing emails. And spear phishing emails are when someone does a little bit of research on you. So they find the name of your company, they find out what kind of business you're in, they go to your web play website, and they find out who the CFO is who the CEO is who the bookkeeper is, right? So many of us put all of that stuff up on the website. And now they have enough information to do a very targeted marketing campaign. Right? It you want to talk two people as individuals. And what better way to do that than to switch from Hey, jury in print, I need to get out of jail. So I'll send you some money. And you just send some of it back to the point of today where it is a lot more complicated because they know about you. Now I gotta talk about a friend of a friend here. Her name is Laura. I'm sure she's still around. She might even be listening. Hi, Laura, wave to her there on the camera. But here's what's happened with Laura. She had a great little business doing photography, and she got an invite to do some photography for somebody out west. And that was she lived in the East Coast at the time. No, actually, she lived in the mountains, the Midwest, Colorado, I think maybe. And they the person wanted her to do a photoshoot for her on this beach in California. So this person says, Okay, so here's what I'm going to do, how much you're going to charge and you set it all up, basically. And she says, Well, I'm going to charge whatever was three grand, I can't remember the number. And so the other guy on the phone said, Man, I already got a check written out here. For five grand Would it be okay? If you just refunded me the difference? Do you see where we're going? Yeah, the difference is the Prophet the bad guy was going to make because that check that they were going to send Laura wasn't any good. And it takes a week or two for checks to clear when you're talking about international tech checks. It takes even longer. So they'll often ask you, as they did with Laura, what can just wire me the difference. Now they're playing these games with cars as well, I was looking for cards. In fact, I was looking for another Ford truck. And we found a great deal on a Ford truck. So we thought, Oh, hey, this is going to be good. We're going to make you know this deal. And, man, this is such a cheap price. What I did and what I would advise you to do if you're kind of stuck in this same thing is I took the pictures from the ad, I think it was on eBay, if I remember right. So the pictures from the ad on eBay. And I took them to Google. Now Google has an image search feature, you've probably used it before to look for images of celebrities or other people. But you can also upload a photo. And you can ask Google, where else does this photo appear? Now one of my son's was doing some volunteer work for this dating site. And what he was doing is taking pictures that people were posting for their profiles. He was running them through the Google image search search and seeing if it was really them. And much of the time, it wasn't it was some celebrity or some other person who knows what these people looked like. In many cases, these accounts were fake accounts that they were using for these types of scams. Now, when this scams are for end users like you and me, and that's one thing and and I was smart enough to double check, you know, thank God I knew, right? Who knows this stuff. And I did a search, I found that they had taken some pictures from a car dealers website, who actually had this truck, they were the ones with the truck, and the truck that the car dealer website had there was the same use truck. But it was $10,000 more than the scammer wanted. So what happens a lot with these truck and car scams is they have this scam going right. And they get people to bite, they get them to pay them the money. And they've set up these fake accounts on YouTube or elsewhere. So they wire the money. And while they don't wire they send them a check, right? Or the car shows up and they have to pay, but there's always a
refund involved. And the refund is you refunding the money.
So they may sell say while the shipping cost is only going to be $500 I thought it was 1500 dollars. So I overpaid you because you'll get a check and it's for too much. And you'll you might contact them and say well, what's going on here, this is more than I thought you were supposed to pay me. So some people will do that. Some people who are a little dishonest won't. But at any rate, the scammers going to ask for that money back and then people send them the money. And so now the scammer just made 1500 bucks. Now in this case, what we're starting to see is a major problem. This is a report out for mine cast. And it's talking about how the business email compromise scam has ramped up 200 hundred and 69% from last quarter to this quarter. And this is an article we're talking right now on June or July, October right mid October. So a massive spike in emails that had dangerous business email compromise stuff in it. So what they're doing is they're finding out about you, they're getting your email address. And then they're sending you dangerous file types. It might be PDF, it might be a.xz, it might be a.ba T might be a.com. And they are sending them to people's inbox. Very, very dangerous malware attachments are in these things spam and target inbox is. This quarterly report by line cast reviewed more than 216 million emails from a half a million users. So think about how many spam emails these guys are getting. So all the emails that were scanned by these different emails security systems, and successfully delivered 28 million or spam, and 28,000 contain malware attachments. And 28,000 had can dangerous file types. So 60,000 was the bottom line of the messages contained business email compromise stuff, impersonation, fraud, scammed, a lot of different words for them. So be very careful, one of the biggest ones and we picked up a new client over this one. This is called a vendor email compromise. This is kind of a new technique that's been discovered. And it involves the intruder sitting on a target network and observing communications. They get a hold of the emails that might be coming out from the billing department might be from a manager and they now know who they're sending emails to what the what they're talking about how much is normally built. Very interesting article, it's up on dark reading. There are some links to the original, you know, articles that were talking about this, and you'll see all of this up. But Craig Peterson calm Of course. And you also should have gotten this in your weekly email. Now if you didn't get that. Go ahead and right now to Craig peterson.com. Right on the homepage, there's a sign up. And when you sign up today, you will get my password special report. This is a 10 page special report going through the pros and cons of different password managers. The cost, what you might want to look at why you would use them what kind of passwords all of that stuff. So just go right now. To Craig Peterson calm. Of course you're listening to Craig Peterson you're watching me live Facebook, YouTube, and on the radio WGAN so stick around We'll be right back and talking about line to your bank.

Hey, and we're back. It is 739. It is WGAN. It is Wednesday morning, and it is time to talk to Craig Peterson, our tech guru. He joins us now as always, Craig, what's going on?

Hey, good morning. Well, we've course got a few things, the big announcements from Amazon, GE with their new AI-powered X-ray system. And man, people are still running to Kaspersky antivirus, including the government.

    Ken
By the way, did we mention that you can hear Craig hear on WGAN every Saturday? One o'clock right here on not only am 560 but 98.5
    95.5You say?

    Matt
    What happened to 105.5?

    Ken
Lots of surprises. We can't tell. Yes, you can still hear us there for a little bit. But there will be a surprise coming there. So stay tuned. But turn your dials now to 98 five. So anyway, Craig, it's time to talk to you so, and that's why I was going to talk to you a little Alexa because you know, I have an Alexa thinga-ma-jiggy and I consider her a living entity inside that little dot that speaks to me. Like, I'll be sitting on t he kitchen, and she'll ask me, you say How you doing today? I'm look nervous about this? Is I think listening to everything I'm saying. I mean,

    Craig
Yeah, this is, you know, man alive. You know, I don't know, are they listening? Yes. But what's she listening for? She's listening for her wakeup words. She's not sending. They're sending everything streaming it all up to the cloud. So yeah, technically, I guess Can she is listening to you, but she's not paying attention. It's kind of like you and your wife's hearing problems, and they get older. And for an odd reason. It tends to be the frequency of the wife's voice. Yeah, I know. I'm in trouble. Now. I'm going to get some calls. So yeah, there was some announcements from Alexa here, or not from Alexa from Amazon about Alexa, you mentioned the Echo Dot, which is just one of their devices that can sit there and answer questions for you. It can take commands, for instance, you can get a like Alexa controlled lighting for your home, I have those, and you can get electric controlled switches, which I have in the chicken coop. So it automatically turns on and off the water, the lights and things like that. They get a lot of really cool stuff. But they have gone to the next level. Now. Now you are saying there's a little woman inside there. And it turns out that Samuel L. Jackson is going to be inside you're Alexa.

    Ken
    Yes.

    Matt
Is he going to swear profusely at me when I start talking to them.

    Craig
Just don't talk about steak and you'll probably be okay. So yeah, they're going do celebrity voices. You know, we've talked before, about these deep fakes and how that are starting to appear all over the place. There are now a couple of thousand. I saw the number yesterday when I was looking at someone actually looked for them, found about 2000 deep fakes right now on YouTube, and, and they were everybody from the president, through celebrities, and others. Elon Musk seems to be a favorite target. What going to happen here now with Amazon is historically like with Siri and the Amazon, Alexa, it's been sitting there, using the voice of someone, right? I don't want to leave this way to this is they've had people women typically sit there and say every word that the Alexa might want to say. And we know it years past, we had these computerized voices, and they sounded very electronic. And now you notice how they seem to sound like people because they are people just like Soylent Green.

    Ken
    Well done. Well done, sir.

    Craig
Right now, what we're doing is they're trying to change it. And there's Samuel Jackson, and these other celebrities are not going to go through the 5000 words, to record them with different inflections and sayings. They're just going to do some pretty basic recordings. Then they're going to use the same type of technology used in deep fakes. And that technology is going to take the recordings and turn completely different words and phrases and everything else, which is quite interesting that Amazon's calling this neural text to speech. They're going to apply this in general now. Even with the pre-recorded voices that they've been using for years, and they're trying to get it to be more "emotive and expressive", which I think is great. It is going to sound more natural. So they've added a few other things. I've got Alexa Gard now, which is making a feature that makes your Echo listen for Windows breaking, or your co2 or fire alarms going off. Then it will call you up on your Alexa app on your smart device. It'll let you know that heard something, and it will play it for you. You can expect this to go to the next level where it hears something, it sounds like maybe someone's walking or perhaps someone talking in your home, and It will get so smart so that it knows it was your cat or your dog or something else safe to ignore. So there's a lot of very cool stuff over at Amazon with the Alexa. And they, by the way, released a couple more than with screens and displays. These things are really good. They're quite cool. And I've got a few of them around to as I mentioned.

    Ken
We are talking to Craig Peterson tech guru extraordinaire, who joins the program at this time every Wednesday to go over what's happening in the world of technology. What's happening in the world of medicine, there are more developments towards AI doctors and AI medical technology, including apparently AI X-ray machines want to tell us a little bit that development here.

    Craig
It is the first one ever to be cleared by our friends over the Food and Drug Administration. Apparently, there have been a lot of AI devices that get submitted for review. And in this case, it was General Electric. And they have a health unit, of course, and this is another way "they're bringing good things to life" as they used to say. Its primary purpose is to detect collapsed lungs. If your chest gets pierced, your lung could collapse. However, it could also happen by various types of natural causes. And what GE is saying that it typically takes about eight hours to diagnose a collapse to lung now that includes waiting time for the X-rays, getting the radiologist to look at it, etc. With this new artificial-intelligence-powered-X-ray system it reduces that time from eight hours to diagnose a collapsed lung down to 15 minutes. They just announced this on Thursday. So it's very, very cool. It is the first of many, by the way, collapsed lungs affected about 75 thousands of people in the US every year. With all of these images that we have from x-ray machines, and many of them are high resolution now. Getting AI involved is going to be quite useful for these situations. Because according to the statistics, I found, they're saying that more than 60% of portable chest exams are marked urgent reading, but they aren't all critical. So that ties up the radiologist on looking at things that aren't really that critical. And something like this is a step in the right direction.

    Ken
We are talking to Craig Peterson, our tech guru, by the way, you can go to Craig Peterson dot com, and you can hear him on Saturdays from one to three on 560 am or nine 98.5 FM. And we have another question for you. I'm because I'm an attorney and I love theft stories. The father of identity theft. I did not know was a father of identity theft.

    Matt
    Is there a mother?

    Ken
Well, that's a really good question. Are their mothers?

    Craig
Well, I guess you could say this was this guy was the mother of all identity thieves. Right? But yeah, yeah. So yeah, identity theft something's that has been going on for a long time. There havebeen a number of arrests over the last few weeks. Really good ones, they have shut down some of these denial of services, and Botnets. They have arrested people who have been very involved in the business email compromise. The FBI is warning that business email compromise's are on the increase. Unfortunately, even though they arrested him, had multiple charges, and will probably serve 20 years if convicted, it is not going to make a big difference at all when it comes to identity theft. Because now everybody knows how to do it. And they're all doing it. So we're seeing a drop in denial of service attacks against our businesses. We're seeing an increase in business email compromises. And this arrest unfortunately, can is not going to slow down these identity theive.

    Ken
    What a shame.

    Matt
Well, Craig Peterson, our tech guru, bringer of doom, tells
us all about the miserable life we all live lead with technology joins us at this time every Wednesday. Appreciate it as always, Craig, and we will talk to you again that next
    week.

    Craig
    Right, thanks.

    Ken
But, you know, come on the Amazon story was a good story was a great
story. I suppose. So. Yeah. And you can hear Craig Peterson. This Saturday, at one o'clock PM. Here.

    Matt
Did you see how Ken seamlessly worked that in? That explanation of his weekend show? Did you see that? Ladies, Gentlemen, that is the radio professional right there.

    Ken
By the way, am I going to have any? Is it going to be the celebration next week?

    Craig
    Hey, guys, listen to this.

    Matt
No somebody wants to buy a cake or, you know, there might be
as you know, I am an intermittent fasting lifestyle.

    Craig
I thought that was kind of cute because I'm the one that introduced Intermittent Fasting to them. I talked about it quite a bit on the podcast A while ago, this whole intermittent fasting thing. If any of you are doing it, I'd like to hear about how it is going for you. It has been a lifestyle for my wife and me for Jeepers, almost going on three years now. And I think about it. It is the longest really well, I don't know about that. But the longest we've been able to be on a diet. But I'm just thinking back we did the whole vegetarian thing is supposed to be so good for you for almost a decade. And that's going to put on most weight, by the way, doing the vegetarian thing. And what else we did, of course, we did the whole thing with a low carb diet. The Atkins diet I lost a lot of weight on the Atkins. Then there were some others, but this is one that's a lifestyle that I think we can live with for the rest of our lives. So hey, if you're looking to improve your health, that's I think the most important thing or and really at the same time you're going to lose fat, not necessarily weight from time to time you'll go a while without weight loss, but you'll be losing fat you'll be losing inches. A check it out, you know it's free. I don't sell it. It's called intermittent fasting. If you're not doing it, man, you should probably get on that bandwagon because it's a very healthy one. Take care, everybody. I'll be back with my weekend show. We release it on podcast sometimes as early as Friday. But usually, it comes out on Saturday. So keep an eye out for that this week. It might be a little bit early, because I'm going up to can-a-da, to Canada for their Thanksgiving celebrations up with family up there. At least that's the plan. We'll see how it all goes. So I might end up having the show up a little bit earlier than usual even this week. Anyways, take care. Talk to you later. Bye-bye.

    Craig

Good morning, everybody. Craig Peters on here. I was on with Mr. Jim Polito this morning. And I don't know how much you know about the Amazon Alexa and the whole environment depending on how you want to pronounce it. But there is some big announcements coming out of Amazon just a couple of weeks ago. So we spent a little bit of time talking about them. And some of the things you can do with this new smart home assistant software, and some of the things you might want to do and maybe some of the things you don't want to do. So here we go with Jim.

    Jim

If you have an Amazon electric you may want to just, you know, get ready for her to go crazy. Yeah, she's she's gonna go a little crazy because we're going to sing her name over and over again. But there's a lot of things she can do for you, not the bad stuff. There's a lot of things she can do for you. That a great that you don't even know about but you know who knows about it. The genius, Our Tech Talk Guru Craig Peterson. Good morning, sir.

    Craig

    Hey, good morning, Jim.

    Jim

So I've been teasing this all morning. And I know every time I say Alexa know, everybody's which isn't good, because people who are listening through a smart speaker which you can listen to this show through someone's finger, every time I say that, it stops playing and she starts listening. So maybe we should come up with a different name for her while we talk about her behind her back.

    Craig

You could do that. Yeah, absolutely. Can I actually use my Alexa to listen to you in the morning? Yeah. Which is great. I do. I'm fascinated. Every day. I get people send me emails. They say Jim, I've got one in the bathroom. And one in the kitchen. Michael, what? Right? And you know why I don't even have one. Talk about being in the Yeah, I mean, a large portion of this audience listens to the show.

    Jim

Through Alexa or through another smart speaker and and the guy doing the show doesn't even own one.

    Craig

Well, first off, if you're if you have one of these Amazon echo's, these Alexa devices, the first thing to do if you're listening to Jim is change its name. So, here's the trick, Alexa will actually respond to either you can say Alexa and it will wake up, or you can go into your app that you have for your Alexa and you can change its name now it will respond to one of three names. You can either call it Alexa, you can call it Echo, or you can be like john Luc Picard and call it computer and it will respond.

    Jim

Yeah, that was the Star Star Trek. Little reference there. For those of us who are geeks

    Craig

Yeah, exactly. It's although there's a couple of things that I have it do, by the way, it has these, these little apps, if you will, that you can run on the echo devices on these Amazon devices. And you can actually program them quite simply my wife who is anything but a programmer has done this as well. And one of them is red alert. So if I, if I tell it that there's a red alert, I'm not going to say the name in front of it, because I don't want them all going on, right. But it can, it can learn to do things. So it starts playing the whole Red Alert thing from Star Trek and lights flashing. So that ties that ties into one of the things you had been talking about a little bit earlier. And that is that they had a big announcement, a whole set of them. Amazon has their big yearly announcements about a week or two after Apple has theirs. And so they were up on the stage one of their big announcements is that they're going to be able to allow you to
have some some names, kind a ounds like, we're going to have a committee to study whether or not we are going to have a committee that's going to investigate sensuality of impeaching President Trump. Yeah. So Samuel Jackson's voice is going to be available on the Alexa. But they're going to do something interesting with this. Jim, we've talked so many times about this new deep fake stuff. They're going to deep fake Samuel Jackson's voice.

    Jim

Oh, so that we talked about this, how dangerous this can be that they could take my image and have me saying something or doing something illegal or whatever, and that that technology is going to be available to the average person, but it's already available to the high tech people. So so they're going to take the tone of Samuel L. Jackson's voice and they're going to say things even though he's not saying it to say those things exactly. So you can boys that's gotta be I'll tell you what I'll bet that's a big payday for Samuel L Jackson.

    Craig

It is because they brought him in studio when he recorded a bunch of stuff but historically what happened with Sherry and and many of these others over the years is a record someone singing almost everything that anyone has ever said. So they've given us a minimum of 5000 word vocabulary typically, oh Samuel L. Jackson is going to be way too expensive to have them have them say every word in the English language that is likely to want to do so

    Jim

    Yeah

    Craig

Deep fakes to go into abound on your Alexa. So that's number two. He's number one, he's going to be the first one. Another thing that I am using that I get I just found out about myself because Amazon upgraded it is something called Alexa guard. Now we all know that the Alexa sits there listening. Okay all of the time.

    Jim

That's why she's not in the house right now, cuz she'd be listening all the time. But go ahead.

    Craig

Yeah. And that's a little bit unnerving, frankly. So Amazon has some technology in it to make it so that if even if it's hacked, you'll notice the light will come on if it's starting to record. So there's a difference between listening and recording. But with Alexa guard, what's going to happen or what happens right now is it listens for Windows breaking or alarms, like carbon dioxide, alarms, fire alarms, any kind of alarm that you have, and it also ties into some of the Home Alarm Systems. So if you have the ring, if you have a couple of others, it'll tie into that so here's what happened. It hears someone walking around. Yeah, that's that's fine, right?

    Craig

Probably going to learn about footsteps is probably going to be able to learn that there's a dog barking or something else is going on. But right now it's just alarms and window breaks. And what it'll do is it will basically call you up.

    Jim

    Oh.

    Craig

It calls you. You have the app on your smartphone, and it says, Hey, I heard something and then it'll play the recording of what it heard to you. That's pretty good. That's really cool.

    Jim

Yeah, so broke broken glass. It hears that it records it and then it calls me up. Now that's, that's a didn't know that's without having to pay for an additional alarm system for your home.

    Craig

It comes with it. And right now you can get some of the older models of the Alexa for as little as 20 bucks.

    Jim

    Wow.

    Craig

So there you go. Now you've got a basic alarm system. It's also by the way, got an auto delete now. Cuz I know that you've been concerned you don't have one of a does record they do go to the cloud. Everybody does this, Microsoft does it with Cortana. And Apple does it, but it goes and then they're reviewed to see how accurate was their understanding of what you said. They now have an auto delete feature in the Amazon Echo universe. And it allows you to have your voice automatically your recordings automatically deleted every three months or every 18 months. You can also tell Alexa to delete what I just said or delete everything I've said today. So it's got a lot of nice little features in it. It also has Food Network features and if you have the echo show which is the one that has the screen on it, you probably notice this because it keeps adjusting recipes for you but this is going to tie in to book a cooking classes from Bobby Flay, which is really kind of cool, you can ask a question it'll tie into your shopping list that I Amazon will take for you that you can use in the grocery store other places, you can ask it So, okay, so let's show me that chicken recipe. And then later on you can go back to it and say how many chicken sighs or what I supposed to use or buy, right? You can tell to save the recipe. It's got new stuff for kids as well and read them stories and have some simple games and other activities. Alex her back is available on your Alexa Wow, you can have your own little game yeah, you're a little game and answer the question within question answer. I don't know how he does it. In the form of a question answer in the form of Yeah, there you go. Yeah, so you answer the question with a question. Wi Fi controller. It has hunches. And that feature is going to be a nap or not announced, but I'm going to come in very, very soon. So the can perform different actions together. So, for instance, we talked a minute ago about the Alexa guard, so you can have it so as Alexa detects something that thinks might be a smashed window and alarm going off. You can have it automatically turn on lights and under your house, you can say hey, Alexa, I'm leaving now. And with hunches, it'll mimic you the way you normally use your lights and and your radio and listening to Jim Polito in the morning. It will mimic all of that as though you are at home. So a lot of really cool features. We have three or four of them in the house these Alexa everything from the dot through the show. Yeah, the kids have them. And I've kind of fallen in love. These things are very, very handy.

    Jim

Well, look, we can find out more. I mean, Craig just scratched the surface. Plus he's got a lot of other information. And all you have to do to get it is text my name, Jim to this number

    Craig

855-385-5553. So just text a Jim to 855-385-5553

    Jim

Standard data and tax rates apply. But you'll get all this great information and you'll get much more Craig will not bother you. He will not pester you. He will not hack you, Craig. Thanks so much, buddy. We'll talk with you next week.

    Craig

All right. Take care, Jim. Bye-bye.

    Jim

All right, a very important final word. When we return you're listening to the
