Heather Yurko has never lacked passion for her visions or belief in herself. When she opened the doors to Neatbeat Salon in 2013, she knew that her passion could take her anywhere she wanted. After spending a few yers behind the chair beautifying her beloved clients and helping solve the world’s problems (because that’s what stylists do) she had a calling to do more. She had this concept of PIP (Positively Impacting People). After several ‘face plants’ PIP University was born.
Even Heather's Pip University 'why' statement is powerful:
I felt worthless. Like a nobody. I, by default, chose the path of most resistance, dropped out of college and went to cosmetology school. It was a road filled with legit lack of respect. Hair Artists are powerful, smart and worth their weight in MORE than gold, some just don't know it yet. We are here to change that.
PIP University is a virtual, interactive set of courses meant to escalate a person’s impact in the beauty industry. But at CZL we believe that there are fabulous life lessons to draw from the teachings at PIP even if you do not work in a salon setting. In fact, Shannon and Brittany have been following Heather for years and appreciate her no nonsense outlook on what it takes to achieve those seemingly unattainable goals. Heather could not be where she is today without her main chick by her side, Samantha Huber. Heather and Sam are the ultimate dynamic duo that are setting the beauty industry on fire and ready to take over the world. During their chat today you will learn how PIP University stays afloat, the power of the team around you, and why Heather is committed to investing in the PIP experience from start to finish. This is a high energy, fun episode that will have you wondering how you can PIP your life. Enjoy!

Sometimes you have to hear where you started to appreciated the place you are in now. That is basically what this episode is with conversations about Derby mixed in. A year ago when CZL was in it's infancy, Shannon and Brittany recorded an episode that was about their party planning tips and the best time of the year....Derby! Due to a later than planned launch date of the podcast, the CZL ladies archived this episode for safe keeping. And today they are releasing it for your listening pleasure. Listen in as the ladies give tips on the success of an annual party they throw and how to do Derby the Shannon and Brittany way. This midweek drop is a fun way to get you ready for that legendary day at the Downs.
We think its safe to say that Joey Wagner is the unofficial mayor of our great city of Louisville. When we think of Louisville love we think of Joey Wagner. The J Wagner Group is an all in one marketing group that recently opened its doors and already has some big name clients like Churchill Downs and Makers Mark. Joey always had big dreams, but he knew to achieve these big dreams he had to learn to hustle. And hustle he did. From the early days of promoting local legends, Nappy roots, to curating new and inventive ways to make a random, local bar THE place to be on a Thursday night. Step by step Joey continued to parlay opportunity after opportunity until it lead him to where he is today. JW is very real in his conversation with CZL and chats openly about the non-stop hustle it took to get him where he can finally breathe almost 20 years later. Join us for a candid talk with one of the most giving, authentic, and driven people in the CZL community. Don't worry! We didn't let Joey escape without giving us the must have details on Derby and why he loves this time of year. Enjoy, zen friends!

After a string of guests over the past couple of months , it was nice for the CZL ladies to be back in the studio doing a CZL solo release. Life is full of little lies we tell ourselves to get through the present state we are in or to lay a blanket, uneducated approach to a problem that you have no idea how your future self will approach. LIES, LIES, LIES. Need an example? "My child will never eat candy." (insert eye roll) What better way to call us out on these fallacies than to release an entire episode about this very topic. Shannon and Brittany have a fun, light hearted time discussing all of the mental fails they had in their youth. Enjoy a trip down lie lane, zen friends!
It's as if the world stops turning when you hear the words, "You have cancer." Caroline Johnson never thought she would be apart of the growing statistic of women battling breast cancer, but that is what happened in 2013. Caroline was no stranger to advocating for causes close her her. Until this point in her life, Caroline was advocating fearlessly for her son that that was dealing with a series of developmental delays. Her focus had to shift to help save her own life. She quickly learned that the very popular pink ribbon was not exactly serving the purpose that she once thought. She no longer felt the comfort in the mass support of breast cancer awareness. The more she dug into the research and funding she learned the money was not going to saving the lives but more for profit. Metastatic breast cancer has no cure cure and most breast cancer patients have a 20-30% of developing this more severe type of cancer progression. What was more shocking to Caroline was that only 10% of the funding from major breast cancer charities was going to metastatic breast cancer research. Listen in as Caroline discusses the drive behind Twisted Pink and why she strives to never stop questioning the status quo.

Our resident CZL therapist is back in the studio to talk about dealing with difficult people in our lives. Megan B. Bartley has returned to share all of her knowledge and how to apply strategies when dealing with challenging views or actions in various relationships. "You can't play tug-of-war if you never pick up the rope," as Megan says. She discusses the power and confidence that we must gain within ourselves to conduct our actions and operate as our highest self. She addresses ways and even responses you can take to try to repel or rebuild a difficult relationship. We can only control our actions not the actions of those around us. Sit back and let the therapy session begin. Enjoy, Zen Friends!

We are so excited to have Alli Trutman from Wicked Sheets on the show today. It’s hard to believe that Alli has been talking about sweat for over 10 years. When Alli launched Wicked Sheets, she was a determined, head strong young woman. Since then not much has changed except is she has a lot of experience under her belt. Life wasn’t always paved with sell out days at QVC. When Alli first thought of the idea of moisture wicking sheets she was trying to find a solution to a problem she was having; sweating a lot at night. She wondered why the same technology advanced textile you found in a soccer uniform didn’t exist in the for sheets. Since then Alli has become the premier sleep expert! She drops some serious sleep knowledge in this episode. (Hint: Talks about the 3 F's that are not allowed in your bed) Sit in with the CZL ladies as they discuss the hard truths about being a woman entrepreneur, her advice for new women entrepreneurs, and why the world needs to sleep more wicked.
