Created Things

It seems like more and more stories are being reported of rowdy audiences ruining theatrical performances with drunken fighting and… *adult behavior*. Are producers to be believed that this signals a post-pandemic crisis of ornery audiences? Is this the end of art as we know it?? ARE WE BEING MELODRAMATIC???

What do you get when you cross a goat, an elephant, a horse, and a phallic symbol for Jesus? Unicorns, of course! Step aside, Bronies: we’re going to candy mountain.

It’s Easter, which on “Created Things” means rad(ish) conversations about weird Resurrection-inspired art traditions. This time, lettuce enlighten you about the quirky symbolism and deep emotion behind Jesus with a shovel and a sun hat. Make sure to turnip the volume in this one so you don’t moss any of these cool cucumbers’ hot takes.

The boys are back at it with the second annual Fake Saints Final Four, ranking the worst and weirdest made-up martyrs and unreal religious from history and pop culture alike. What does your favorite fake saint say about you? And why do you even have a fake saint, you weirdo?

To some artists, even a simple scrap of paper can inspire amazing projects. That’s just the case for our guest Julian Curi, a multitalented filmmaker and fabricator (among other things) whose paper-based “animations” and behind-the-scenes videos are inspiring other creatives all over the world!

Run away and join the circus with Jacob and Father Gabriel as they sit down with national circus chaplain and national liaison to the USCCB for circus, Father Frank Cancro. With a front row seat to this too-often misunderstood art form, they discuss everything from radical acceptance to ridiculous clown acts.
