* Jumpstart is a nonprofit early literacy organization that trains adult volunteers who are college students. It deploys the students to under-resourced communities to teach in under-resourced preschool classrooms. * The organization has relationships with over 70 universities and developed a presence  in 15 states.  

[2:52] What’s involved in Jennifer’s day-to-day role as COO? 

* A core part of Jennifer’s job is to maintain orderliness across the organization. * She assesses the risks in every project and decides whether or not to go ahead with the project. * She ensures that her team has the right resources they need to be successful in their jobs.

* As a non-profit, most of Jumpstart’s revenue comes from private philanthropy.
