Do you have a fear of speaking? Join us today to dig deep with Evan Carmichael on the topic of getting over our fears. Stop living a good life and start living a GREAT life. There are a lot of things that you can do to be good. But what does it take to be great? That's one of the things that we'll delve into in this second part of an obsessed-filled episode featuring Evan Carmichael.
Many people aspire to goodness, but few aspire to greatness. Why is this? Is it because they don't believe they have what it takes? Or is it because they don't know what it takes? It is often said that failure is the key to success. This may be true, but it is also important to remember that greatness can come from failure.
It's not enough to be good at something to be great. You must be passionate about it and willing to put in the hard work to get there. In this episode, we'll explore with Evan what it takes to go from being good at something to being great at it, in addition to digging deeper introspectively with the insights about belief and grief from last week's episode!
Evan believes that entrepreneurs can be successful on their own terms. While dealing with some failures and problems, Evan was still able to find success at a young age and now runs a highly successful YouTube channel, is an author of four books, and is recognized by Forbes as a renowned speaker on leadership and social media. Evan is working to solve the world's biggest problem of people not believing in themselves enough through good karma projects and initiatives that have the potential to impact a billion people.
What You Will Learn From This Episode:
00:53 - Too much cannot be a good enough reason
03:59 - Limiting your talents when it could be greater
05:54 - Going after the greatness
10:58 - Stressing over things while grieving
11:50 - Failing to accomplish your goals and dancing towards success
16:39 - Knowing exactly what you don’t want

Get to know the genius behind the successful podcast, Motorcycles & Misfits. Liza Miller started this podcast back in 2013 in the co-op motorcycle garage she runs in Santa Cruz, California, the Re-Cycle Garage. What started as a passionate conversation with a few misfits after turning a wrench on a Sunday afternoon has become a popular podcast that will clear its 500th episode and over 3 million listens this year.
Motorcycles & Misfits is an inclusive haven for passionate motorcyclists of every stripe, age, and walk of life. You'll hear about Liza, Miss Emma, Bagel, Stumpy John, and other Re-cycle Garage Misfits. You'll learn how she grew her podcast through attending events, recording on location, selling merch, and getting excellent guests on her show. From stunt riders like Gary Davis who jumped his motorcycle more successfully than Evel Knievel himself, to Hollywood celebrities like Norman Reedus of Walking Dead and Boondock Saints. Norman Reedus even included their band of misfits on the first episode of his motorcycle focused TV show, Ride with Norman Reedus.
00:00 Introducing Liza Miller and Re-Cycle Garage in Santa Cruz, CA
03:20 Julie's secret...
04:50 Liza on keeping her podcast fresh as she nears 500 episodes

13:30 On choosing her band of misfits, cohosts, and regular guests on the show
19:10 Liza's minimalistic approach to editing

32:20 Using t-shirt rewards as an incentive for members to join the Patreon community of Misfits
34:30 Liza's advice to new podcasters or those that have stagnated
To get a taste of Motorcycles & Misfits, you can check out last week's Podtease! We featured their interview with motorcycling legend, Gary Davis. It was an episode that was almost lost due to technical difficulties, offering Liza and her crew a few lessons about using new, untested technology for an important recording. You'll fall in love with the show, and really want to add their podcast to your queue. Check it out here:

Meet the original Maverick (a nod to the blockbuster movie Top Gun), Rear Admiral Garry E. Hall. Garry has lived a life on the edge, as a famed helicopter pilot in the US Navy. He has combined a lifetime of experience in leadership with a newer career in media. Above anything, Garry knows that his first priority is his family, and remaining a humble contributor who comes from a service-first perspective. This real maverick has been in battle, led the United States during wartime, and served as the national security advisor to the president. He uses the medium of podcasting to leverage his message of leadership with The Admiral's Almanac. Garry is a sought after speaker for audiences who are hungry for his leadership principles and fascinated with the story of a man who gives his all for country while remained grounded in the roots of family.
It's time to get those earbuds humming as you listen to the incomparable Rear Admiral Garry E. Hall. Join Corinna & Jules as they are surprised (at nearly every turn) by Admiral Garry's wit and his wisdom. This guy is so controversial (at least in his marketing) that his podcast was brushed away by the NSA when he tried to launch it back in 2018. You'll learn why that happened in today's show. His clear intelligence, calm nature, and willingness to share his vast knowledge are led by an incredible wit that keeps you on your toes and guessing. In short, we love Admiral Garry and so will you!
Topics & Time Stamps:
00:00 Introducing Rear Admiral Garry Hall, Podcasters who resurrected his show after being smacked down by the national security administration (NSA)

24:30 Garry's changing parenting style: leaving judgment behind, overlooking faults, and loving unconditionally

Meet the two-time Emmy-Award nominated photographer, producer, and livestreaming afficionado, Tom Langan. Tom may have the nicest equipment of any podcaster that Corinna & Jules have yet interviewed, and he'll tell you all about what makes his gear stand out during our interview. For a deeper dive into the technology, and to see his video setup -- you'll want to tune in to this full-length, unedited interview on YouTube. The audio-only version is roughly 1/2 the length, given that no visuals are included and some of this interview would have been difficult to grasp in the audio-only version. As a whole, the YouTube interview trended very technical -- so if you're an A/V nerd, trust us, and head over to YouTube!
00:00 Introduction to Tom Langan
05:45 Tom's camera setup (for his webcam) Sony A7iii with Sigma 35mm F1.4 lens (it's $$$$ pricey but beautiful)
09:00 Getting the angle right for your webcam
14:50 Use what you have, but you can also upgrade "on the cheap"
16:20 Tom's "nickel tour" of his career story - how he became an Emmy-nominated photographer and producer
20:30 Summing it up
You can view the unedited, much longer interview on YouTube, and see Tom's setup visually by visiting our YouTube channel. The direct link to his interview is here: https://youtu.be/J6K7HwkW6rY
About Our Guest: Tom Langan, Emmy-nominated Director of Photography & Producer
Tom has been nominated for two Emmy Awards for his work as a director of photography and producer. He has served as Showrunner and Series Producer on multiple complex and challenging projects overseeing multi-million dollar budgeted productions. His work has taken him all over the globe, from the Arctic Circle to sub-Saharan Africa, producing lifestyle, documentary, entertainment and commercial content. Since (mostly) leaving television production 3 years ago, he has shifted his focus to working with entrepreneurs, nonprofits and mission-driven organizations to help them positively impact their communities, shape the future of their industry and build meaningful, long lasting relationships with their audience through narrative, value driven content utilizing his proprietary Legendeering™ process (you'll learn more about this in a future episode of The Mediacasters). This episode of The Mediacasters is a reprise of an interview on The Binge Factor Podcast featuring our very own Corinna Bellizzi. With the growing number of podcasters and podcasts in general, how do we create a community that fosters collaboration instead of competition? That’s the goal Corinna Bellizzi is working towards. Corinna is the host of Care More Be Better, where she shares stories of inspired individuals and conscious companies to show us all that one person with one idea can have a big positive social impact. In November 2021, with her business bestie, Julie Lokun, she co-founded The Mediacasters, a podcast, and community that elevates the voices of people and supports their journeys through podcasting, publishing, and public speaking. In this episode, Corinna chats with Tracy Hazzard about the power of community in elevating the space and how staying true to your message is key to excelling.
