  • Creative Guts Turns Five!

Creative Guts is five years old! In this episode, Laura and Sarah reflect on the highlights of the past year — the podcast, the programming, and what is on the horizon! Thank you to our partners and funders: Art Up Front Street Studios and Gallery, the Rochester Museum of Fine Arts, Exeter High School, the NH State Council on the Arts, and others!

A special thank you to YOU: our listeners! To those of you who have been here since day one, you cannot imagine the love we feel for you!

To celebrate this milestone, we’re hosting a birthday party and YOU are invited! Join us at Auspicious Brew in Dover on Tuesday, July 23rd for a rocking good time. Clandestine will be there with the tunes. Please RSVP for our party here: https://www.zeffy.com/ticketing/f18cfda6-4140-4b2b-90f3-6212a46e8df9

Creative Guts is taking a summer break, so you won’t hear from us in July or August, but we’ll be back with new episodes in September! In the meantime, catch up on past episodes you’ve missed or re-listen to your favorites wherever you listen to podcasts or on our website.

While we won’t be releasing any new episodes this summer, we will be busy making other fun things happen! Follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn for the latest and visit our website www.CreativeGutsPodcast.com to sign up for our monthly newsletter.

  • NH Maker Fest 2024

In this episode of Creative Guts, co-hosts Laura Harper Lake, Sarah Wrightsman, and Mike Durkee interview makers of all ages at the NH Maker Fest, hosted by the Children's Museum of New Hampshire, on June 1, 2024. The NH Maker Fest is an all-ages celebration of creativity and innovation, where makers can share their project, hobbies, experiments, and more with the community.

At the Creative Guts booth, folks were welcome to participate in a mini-interview with some of the Creative Guts team, chatting about their creative pursuits and dreams. It was a joyful time as we chatted with 20 youngsters – some as young as 4-years-old – and a handful of adults with inspiring stories to tell, including local children's author Carolyn Watkins, Daniel of the Piece of Mind Podcast; and Stacy Lavin, president of Veterans in Performing Arts.

In this episode of Creative Guts, co-hosts Laura Harper Lake and Sarah Wrightsman sit down with Zackery Betty, the artistic director at NSquared Dance! Zackery is a dancer and a choreographer with an MFA in Choreography and a BFA in dance!

NSquared Dance was founded by Nick Neagle, creative director and Zackery’s husband, in New York City as his senior thesis! NSquared is now Manchester’s premiere contemporary dance company, and we’re so glad they landed in New Hampshire!

In this episode, we answer the important questions, like are you better at the Cotton Eyed Joe just because you’re a professional dancer? The answer, of course, is yes. We also talk about stage fright, dance competitions (including the televised kind), how to get started, and more.

  • Community Art at Exeter High School

In this episode of Creative Guts, co-hosts Laura Harper Lake and Sarah Wrightsman return to Exeter High School — this time to chat with the students!

As a follow up to our interview with Eric Gold, the students spent two days in April painting with Eric! The students had an incredible opportunity to paint together as a community.  As described in our interview with Eric, students were given small squares of larger paintings to work on. The subject matter of their work: changemakers! Two of the portraits featured guests Creative Guts interviewed live at EHS earlier this year: Diannely Antigua, Lindsay Garfield, and Jon Nolan!

As a bonus, Creative Guts had the opportunity to chat with Diannely and Lindsay while the students painted their faces! In this episode, we chat with the students about what it was like to participate in a community painting, what creativity means to them, and what creative things they love!

Please excuse the background noise — this episode was recorded in the middle of the creative chaos!
