Do you typically think of copying as a bad thing? If you’re copying, then charging for the work or taking credit for it, it’s awful. Don’t do it. But, have you approached copying with the desire to learn? Copying is a learning tradition that has been around for hundreds of years. The Louvre started their copyist program in 1793 and it continues today. In fact, most major museums have copyist programs for artists to copy masterpieces as part of their learning.
