GODDAMNIT I AM FRIGGIN GROUCHY TODAY. UGH. And that is what this whole episode is ABOUT DANGIT. AGH.
Remember how I said I was going to lean into my feelings more? Even if they were GARBAGE LIKE MY FEELINGS TODAY? WELL. FRICK. I'm fricking DOING IT. And bringing you along for the flip floppin' journey OH HECK.
If you aren't familiar with the hero's journey, basically it's like... you are the hero of your own journey. When you are working towards accomplishing a thing, you learn skills, you explore those skills, you try to figure out what the FRICK you are doing with them, and then something happens that brings everything to a grinding HAULT. And you have to do some stupid frigging deep introspective dumb work to figure out who the heck you are and why your journey is important and GAH. And then it leads to a decision which ultimately leads to the transformation of your "character" to get you to the final result of whatever you're trying to achieve.
Go watch any superhero movie, you'll see it all play out in real time in front of your eyeballs.
In fact, most stories follow this arc.
AGGGGHHH. ANYWAY.
I am in the stupid dark night of the soul part where i'm like... "AM I EVEN GOOD AT THIS? AM I EVEN FUNNY? HAVE I LOST IT ALL DURING THIS 2 YEAR ISOLATION OR WHAT???"
Which I really hope means that by the time I get to the next episode, I"m in the decision part of the story. Or better yet, the transformation part.
The problem is, I just have no clue what decision I need to make in order to get there. WHAT HAS TO CHANGE? Ohhhh I weep. I weep.
Creativity... so cool, man.
Anyway.

If you ever get stuck with your creative projects, maybe it's because you're only working on one at any given time! AHHH! MAYBE THAT'S MEEE!
In this episode I get deep with ya about wtf is going on with my comedy album this week, why I think I might have creative tunnel vision, and I have literally no solutions for this problem this week, other than to just have more than one creative project going at a time.
I guess this is also a creative project! Right here right now!
What do you do to get unstuck?!?!?! How do you smash through creative blocks?!?! TELL MEEEE!

This week I realized that I have been resisting my creativity by FORCING MYSELF TO BE CREATIVE. What a world. WHAT A TIME TO BE ALIVE!
Join me on this harrowing journey of self-discovery... will I have a song for you to hear at the end of this? MAYBE! But you'll have to stay tuned to find out!

The more I analyze the idea that I've had too much therapy, the more the theory makes sense.
BECAUSE I CAN'T STOP OVERANALYZING EVERYTHING!
This week I'm talking about how I can't properly cry anymore, because I've caught myself in a looped behaviour that analyzes WHY I feel like I want to cry, or feel angry, or anything, so that I can never just BE the thing and enjoy my emotions, good or bad or whatever.
I ALSO share with you, a fun experiment I'm doing to stop this endless analytical cycle, I'm writing a song every day, and I'm not writing the lyrics down, AND whatever I start singing about, I have to continue with, even if I'm like "this is a stupid idea". Because that's the stupid overanalysis that is stopping me from being creative.

There's a word for control freaks like me. Control Troll. That's two words. And I'm KEEPING IT.
Today on Creativity Is Cool I spent a very long time describing why I believe my nightmares are being haunted by a ghost in my new apartment, my plan to get rid of said ghost, and also the fact that it's just an allegory for my creative life at this moment. THE TROLL OF CONTROL is telling me to STOP BEING SO SILLY ALL THE TIME. And yet, that's exactly what I need to be doing.
Join me this week as I rationalize my external fears, with my internal fears. Also, a very short new apartment tour!

I randomly decided to start a new podcast about creativity. This is it.
I'm writing a comedy music album, which I believe will make the world a better place, because who doesn't giggle at a fart joke? And if you don't, this podcast is probably not for you.
Anyway, I forget to introduce myself at the beginning of this episode (episode 1, you know, the crucial episode to introduce yourself in) so allow me to introduce myself. I am Emily Milling. I'm 5'8" and I'm represented by M2 Talent Agency. SLATE. I've been doing a lot of self tape auditions lately, it's a habit.
I'm an actor, comedy person (not a stand up comedian, I just... I do comedy, ok?) and I write a shitload of music when I'm not suffering massive creative constipation, like I presently am. So I started this podcast to have more FUN and be more INSPIRED and to document this whole process of writing a comedy music albummmmmm.
EN-FRICKIN-JOY I LOVE YOU.
