An original poem written by Jessica and scored with music by Tribe of Noise, shared through Creative Commons licensing.
In the Poetry Soundtrack Project, tenth grade Poetics students immerse in the reading and writing of poetry while studying Creative Commons, remix culture, and the free-culture movement.
To create this podcast, Credo students 'scored' original poetry with music and sound, exploring how layered media can create new emphasis and even alter meanings.
The Poetry Soundtrack Project is a free-culture project in Dr. Gordon’s tenth grade Poetics at Credo High School.

I Know Her
by Jessica
I know her.
In summer she hates her legs
because shorts expose,
when in winter months she could cover up.
She likes the shape of her nose,
but hates the gap between her two front teeth,
and I think,
such an odd insecurity.
I know she struggles with expectations,
a constant barrier against her imagination,
and yet, she has so much.
Her creativity is beyond,
her mind is extraordinary.
I wish
she could see her eyes through my eyes,
watch them sparkle with ideas,
squint with laughter and tears.
I don't think she understands how precious she is to me,
though she is older I feel it's my responsibility
to remind her
she is special.
I hope she knows I dread the day she leaves,
her presence can't carry across miles of sea.
I need her wisdom and strength
her words so easily given away
but one day I know,
she will find
that missing piece she feels inside
and she will finally smile with the joy
she deserves.
I know her,
her voice, heart, and beliefs,
I know her,
if only she knew me.
