Text: Romans 9:13-16.

In this portion of Romans 9, Paul amplifies the doctrine of divine election by introducing its counterpart: divine reprobation or rejection. Why did God love Jacob but hate Esau? This is one of the most puzzling statements in all the Scripture and yet the Lord does provide the answer. Today we're looking at the roots of God's mercy and His justice, as well as their mutual exclusivity.

Text: Romans 9:9-13. How does God's word of promise function with regard to God's children and to Himself? This week we are dealing with the "Doctrines of Grace" in Romans 9, which are designed to exalt God and to humble the pride of man. These are not the word of men, but the truth of God. The church in every age declines when these truths are neglected or denied, but She experiences revival when they are proclaimed and put on display for all the children of God to behold their brilliance. Who are the true children of Abraham and of God? What are the true marks of all genuine children throughout history? And how can you know if you are a genuine child of God? Listen in this week as the lives of Abraham, Sarah, Hagar, Ishmael and Isaac illustrate these eternal truths. The conclusion of the Scripture may not be what you expect.

There are 3 great declarations of God in this passage relating to His Son, His Word, and His people. Join us this week to learn what they are and, even more importantly, to give your "Amen" to these truths that all genuine believers throughout the ages have confessed.

Romans 9:4b. What are the promises of God? Why were they such a privilege for Israel? Are those promises for the Church today? And, if so, how do you claim them? These are the questions we'll address in this week's sermon.

Why were the giving of the Law and the service of God such great privileges for Israel? How did Israel respond to each? And, what is your response today to God's law and to His service? These are the questions we will explore in this week's sermon. Your responses will tell you a great deal about your true spiritual condition in God's eyes.

What is the New Covenant? And how is it unfolded in the books of Jeremiah and Ezekiel for the Church today? What is the significance of the "land of Israel" in the New Covenant? This study reveals more of the glory of the Lord in His promises to His people, which serves to deepen the worship of the Church for the glory of God.

Romans 9:4.

What is the Davidic Covenant? What is the Messianic (or New) Covenant? What did God want to teach His people through these covenants? And why do these covenants matter to the Church today?

What are the covenants in the Bible? What is the Covenant of Works and how is it different from the Covenant of Grace? How did Israel enter into the Covenants and how can anyone enter into them today? Why were the covenants such a great privilege for Israel and why is Paul grieved over Israel in relation to the covenants? These are the questions that we will explore in this week's sermon.
