Text: Romans 11:11-15.

In today's text Paul makes a carefully reasoned argument in order to answer the question: why did unbelieving Israel ultimately reject the Gospel? This is a challenging portion of Romans 11, which has been interpreted in widely different ways by orthodox Christians. Is Paul contrasting Israel's current blindness with a future restoration for the nation or does he perhaps have something else in view? Join us to hear about the LORD's sanctified purpose, argument, illustration and conclusion for Israel's stumbling.

Text: Romans 11:7-10.

In today's text, the Apostle Paul comes back to the concept of divine reprobation or God's rejection of a people by highlighting a key reason why Israel and ultimately why anyone rejects the Gospel message: they are blinded. Who blinded them? What are they blinded to? And how were they blinded? These are some of the questions we will consider today from three different scriptural perspectives: 1) Paul's, 2) the Law and the Prophets' and, 3) the King of Israel's.

Text: Romans 11:1-6.

Some might conclude at this point in the Apostle's argument that God is finished with the nation of Israel and that they've been finally cast away so Paul opens this chapter affirming that God is not finished with Israel and he offers 2 proofs in today's text to substantiate his claim. God never rejects His people whom He foreknew. And, although He rebukes His people gently, it is always for the purpose of repentance and holiness of life. Those who are His true people receive His correction; those who are not, don't. The Lord has a remnant in every age that He reserves for His own worship, and that people will endure to the end because of the work of God, not the work of men. Text: Romans 10:18-21.

In the closing portion of chapter 10, the Apostle Paul anticipates a few more objections about why people haven't believed the good news. Is it that they haven't heard it? Or perhaps they've heard it but don't understand it? Or is there another factor we need to consider? Paul will show how the Gospel was preached in the Old Testament and offer 3 proofs that, in fact, people generally (and Israel specifically) by and large have heard the Gospel and are without excuse.

Text: Romans 10:14-17.

In these verses, Paul addresses the question: how does anyone come to have a genuine, saving faith? and he lists several necessary conditions - a human "chain of responsibility" - upon which the individual is utterly dependent. But even when all the right links are joined together, is that any guarantee he will believe? Or is something else required? Join us this week as we consider the the necessary elements for genuine faith, the shocking reality of unbelief, and the one element above all others which is sufficient for faith.

Text: Romans 10:13.

This week we're considering a verse which has been called the apex and center of Romans 9-11. What does it mean to "call upon the Lord"? Is it the same as believing on Him, or is there another dimension to calling? Given that calling on Him is linked directly with our salvation, it's crucial we understand what this means, and there are at least 3 senses in which the Scripture speaks of calling on the Lord. What does the Apostle Paul mean that there is no "distinction" between Jew or Gentile and why is that important for the Church to understand? And how does that relate to the Lord who is "rich" to all who call upon Him? How is God rich toward us? In verse 11, the Apostle Paul proves that God's way of salvation - by faith and not by works - has always been the way of salvation throughout the Bible. It is an open invitation with a divine concentration which makes a proven proclamation. Join us this week to hear the way of salvation and be encouraged as you hear the divine promise: "whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame."

In this section of Romans 10, the Apostle Paul speaks of the "word of faith." What is that exactly? There has been much confusion in contemporary Christianity related to the Word of Faith movement. Is that what Paul is describing or is this something else? Join us this week as we study the word of faith and how it works biblically.

There is a kind of righteousness that Moses writes about which pronounces a curse on sinners, and there is a kind of righteousness that speaks to the heart which gives life. What is this righteousness that "speaks"? How does it speak and what is its critical message? Must we ascend to the heights and descend to the depths to find salvation or has God done something for us to bring salvation near? "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart."
