Today we consider the Apostle's teaching about the gifts in general before we begin to understand them in particular. What are the gifts? How many are there in total? Does each Christian have a single gift or several gifts? How do I know which gifts I have? And, how do I use them? Doubtless, these are questions with which many Christians have struggled. Today we endeavor to bring some clarity to an often confusing portion of Scripture so that the Saints would be encouraged and empowered to use their gifts, and God would be glorified in the Saints' understanding and use of God's gifts. Pastor Jonathan continues today's exposition of Romans 12:4-5 with an illustration of our spiritual union with Christ as seen in the first human marriage in Genesis 2 followed by an overview of the Old Testament demonstrating the great significance of our union with Christ as pictured in familiar types and shadows. In today's text, we consider the question: how do you know that you are being transformed and that your mind is being renewed? The answer is that there is a glorious demonstration that takes place in your mind. Your thinking will begin to change in 3 important areas: 1) you will begin to think rightly about God, 2) you will begin to think rightly about yourself and, 3) you will begin to think rightly about your salvation. Today we consider the first point and learn what it means for the transformed believer to "prove" the will of God.
