  • Matthew: Come Meet the King - The Parable of the Sower (Matthew 13:18-23)
Mark Kline :: Creekside Church :: Sunday, February 28, 2021
Jesus spoke in parables to conceal the truth from the hard-hearted and superficial whose irresponsibility with it would only bring more judgment on themselves, but also to reveal the truth to the sincere seeker who would use it to grow God’s kingdom. Mark Kline preaches about the Parable of the Sower from Matthew 13, explaining the story’s four types of soil and the spiritual meaning that Jesus unlocked for His disciples. In contrast to the kinds of earth that don’t foster growth, we are encouraged to be “good soil” where seeds flourish, as seen in the life of a Christian "who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit” and becomes a sower along with Christ.

  • Matthew: Come Meet the King - Read and Heed the Signs (Matthew 12:38-45)
Steve Smith :: Creekside Church :: Sunday, February 14, 2021
“Some of the scribes and Pharisees said to Him, ‘Teacher, we want to see a sign from You.’” Those who would ultimately dismiss Jesus demanded proof of His identity—proof that they already had. From Matthew‬ ‭12:38‬-45, Pastor Steve preaches about the perspective and peril of those who rejected Him. After asking Him for a miraculous sign, Jesus reminds them of the “Sign of Jonah” pointing to His death, burial and resurrection. Steve challenges us to read and head the signs we have that prove Jesus is who He claimed to be.

  • Matthew: Come Meet the King - Words Matter (Matthew 12:31-37)
Steve Smith :: Creekside Church :: Sunday, February 7, 2021
Our words impact our eternal destiny, and Steve Smith delivers a word about words from Matthew 12:31-37. In two more indictments against those who blasphemously claimed He was the enemy, Jesus confirms His identity, calls us to acceptance, and explains the consequences of words that flow from the heart. Steve encourages us to consider what the content and the intent of our heart says about us.

  • Matthew: Come Meet the King - Don't Confuse Me with the Facts (Matthew 12:22-30)
Steve Smith :: Creekside Church :: Sunday, January 31, 2021
In Matthew 12:22-30, the Pharisees’ developing antagonism against the Messiah’s message has come to a head. Pastor Steve preaches from this passage about Jesus’ condemnation of the Pharisees, which develops in 3 stages intended to prove His identity, propel us to accept, and prevent us from rejecting who He really is. As the passage unfolds, Steve shows us how Jesus reveals His power over the enemy, was wrongly accused of being the enemy, and rebukes the true enemy.

  • Matthew: Come Meet the King - God's Chosen Servant (Matthew 12:15-21)
Steve Smith :: Creekside Church :: Sunday, January 24, 2021
In Matthew 12:15-21, Jesus flees in the face of mounting opposition to His message, but He withdraws not out of fear, but rather in order to fulfill prophecy from Isaiah, which establishes the Messiah as not only the King of Israel but Lord of the nations. In Pastor Steve’s message, both Jesus’ retreat and His recalling of Isaiah’s prophecy serve to confirm Him as God’s chosen servant, challenging us to accept Him as Savior and compel us to live as He did.

  • Matthew: Come Meet the King - Clarifying Controversies (Matthew 12:1-14)
Steve Smith :: Creekside Church :: Sunday, January 17, 2020
Jesus was a king who declared and demonstrated His authority and identity, but that action brought skepticism and eventually hostility. Pastor Steve resumes our preaching series in Matthew covering two controversies over Sabbath law pitting Pharisees against Jesus in Matthew 12:1-14. Jesus used these controversies to clarify a condemnation of legalism, a commendation of sincere love for God and neighbor, and a confirmation of His own sovereignty as “Lord of the Sabbath.”

  • Ready, Set, Go: Preparing to Be God's Messenger (Isaiah 6)
Bob Short :: Creekside Church :: Sunday, January 10, 2021
Christians aren’t called to be apologists for a political party or ideology, but to be ambassadors for Christ in this world. From Isaiah 6, Bob Short preaches about the process God used to prepare the prophet Isaiah to be God’s messenger, to which Isaiah ultimately responded, “Here I am! Send me.” Bob uses this transformation in Isaiah’s life to suggest how believers should respond to the same calling to be messengers, a path often difficult but always ending in glory.
