Steve Smith :: Creekside Church :: Sunday, December 2, 2018
The main event of Advent is about Jesus. The danger in this season is our tendency to focus on the parade but miss the main event. Steve Smith begins a Christmas season series from the first two chapters of Luke with the story of Elizabeth's visit from Mary (Luke 1:39-45). Elizabeth’s example reveals two ways God works in and through us to convince us of His plan and to communicate it to the world so we don’t miss the main event. • Hebrews 7:1-10 - Melchizedek & More (Hebrews: Greater Is He)
Mark Kline :: Creekside Church :: Sunday, November 11, 2018
The intended audience of the book of Hebrews was in large part recent converts from Judaism and spiritually lazy or immature Christians, like many in our churches today. As the author labored to push his readers toward a mature faith and a “meatier” grasp of the truth of Jesus Christ as our great high priest, Mark Kline preaches from Hebrews 7:1-10 and the heftier teaching of Melchizedek. Mark covers the typeology, superiority, and contemporary relevance of this ancient priest and king, who was a picture of the coming Christ for Old Testament Israel. In the way Melchizedek was greater than Abraham and other patriarchs, so too is Jesus, our priest and king, greater than any other way to God. Mark’s message follows announcements and a salute to Creekside’s military veterans.

  • Hebrews 5:11-6:8 - Bonsai Believers (Hebrews: Greater Is He)
Steve Smith :: Creekside Church :: Sunday, October 28, 2018
Like a bonsai tree, spiritually immature believers have shallow roots, bear no fruit, and don’t grow much at all. Every new Christian starts small, but the "elementary teachings about Christ" are stepping stones, not stopping places. In a call to move beyond the ABCs of the Christian life, Steve Smith profiles the “bonsai believer” and presents from Hebrews 5:11-6:8 two tactics to inspire professing followers of Christ toward spiritual maturity in order to prove genuine faith and avoid eternal condemnation.

  • Hebrews 4:1-13 - Don't Fall Short (Hebrews: Greater Is He)
Steve Smith :: Creekside Church :: Sunday, October 14, 2018

  • Hebrews 3:14-19 - Read it, Heed It (Hebrews: Greater Is He)
Steve Smith :: Creekside Church :: Sunday, October 9, 2018
Our lives are filled with warning signs, many of which we ignore. We often read them but do not heed them because warning signs grate against our independence and insult our intelligence. Preaching from Hebrews 3:12-19, Steve Smith highlights two warnings against unbelief—unbelief that keep believers from genuine faith. Steve encourages us to learn from mistakes of the past, and for the present, heed God’s exhortation against unbelief and toward faith in Christ, for both ourselves and others.

  • Hebrews 3:1-6 - Consider Jesus (Hebrews: Greater Is He)
Bob Short :: Creekside Church :: Sunday, September 30, 2018
“Consider Jesus...hold fast our confidence and our boasting in our hope.” Where in the world do you place your confidence? And what would happen if it were taken away? The author of Hebrews encouraged people who thought pretty highly of Moses to think even more highly of Jesus, our “apostle” and “high priest”. Bob Short preaches from Hebrews 3:1-6 with a call to daily consider Jesus, the Son over and builder of “God’s house”, and to hold confidently to the hope that we have in Him.
