As the fool Nabal, the 3rd character in the story, was the target of David’s wrath, we find David's mercy on Nabal drawn out by his wife Abigail, who met the need for peace. Mark challenges us to be peacemakers like Abigail, ultimately another picture of Jesus Christ, who humbly offered Himself to make our peace with God.
