  • Portraits of Faith: Joseph's Tenacious Trust (Genesis 37-50)
Steve Smith :: Creekside Church :: Sunday, May 6, 2018
Believers have numerous reasons to trust God, but we often don’t. Steve Smith preaches on highlights from the life of Joseph from Genesis 37-50. God’s sovereign control over several aspects of Joseph’s life—his family, his adversity, his prosperity and his reality—should encourage us toward the same tenacious trust that Joseph eventually grew into. Steve’s message follows a brief announcement from Alan Crim.

  • Portraits of Faith: Noah's Outrageous Obedience (Gen. 6:5-9:13)
Steve Smith :: Creekside Church :: Sunday, April 29, 2018

Steve Smith presents a portrait of Noah from Genesis 6:5-9:13 and 3 aspects of Noah’s life that can equip and encourage us to live against the tide through what seems to the world to be outrageous obedience to God. Steve's message follows brief announcements and music.

  • Portraits of Faith: Mark's Meaningful Service (1 Cor. 4:1-5)
Bob Short :: Creekside Church :: Sunday, April 22, 2018
Resist your reputation, grasp God's gift. Following some announcements from Steve Smith, Bob Short introduces a new sermon series, "Portraits of Faith." Bob presents a Biblical character study of Mark, the gospel writer who by many accounts was not always portrayed favorably, but in the end was a faithful servant of Christ. Our reputation may tempt us to self-promote or get discouraged and quit. Just as Jesus "made Himself of no reputation" (Phil. 2:7), Mark followed that example and persevered in serving Christ by faithfully using the gifts God gave him—leaving us a great example of using our spiritual gifts despite the judgment of others.

As a concluding message in our sermon series on the various tests of authentic faith found in First John, Steve Smith teaches about what “we know” from the end of chapter 5. Verses 18-21 reveal 3 guaranteed benefits of knowing Christ that encourage Godly living instead of using our security as a license to return to the sin over which we have victory.

Steve Smith :: Creekside Church :: Sunday, April 1, 2018

Steve Smith preaches an Easter Sunday message from Mark 16:1-8, where the women in these 8 verses reveal 3 possible ways of interacting with Jesus that convince us of the Resurrection reality, confirm for us Jesus’ true identity, convict us that only personal faith brings victory over sin and death, and compel us to share that story.

Steve Smith :: Creekside Church :: Sunday, March 11, 2018

After brief announcements, Steve Smith preaches from 1 John 5:1-5 where we find that the secret to overcoming the world is to be “born of God”, the proof of which is seen in our faith in God, our love for others, and our obedience to His Word. We also learn what it means to be an overcomer, empowered for victory by the spirit of God.

  • Get Off the Porch (Luke 15:11-32)
Roy Kosin :: Creekside Church :: Sunday, March 4, 2018
Our response when we see others rejoicing is a good indication of whether we really appreciate God’s grace. Following announcements and special music from the Emmaus Bible College Ensemble, guest speaker from Emmaus Roy Kosin presents a message from Luke 15. Instead of focusing on the returning prodigal son, Roy uses the story’s older brother as an important lesson in understanding God’s grace. In his jealousy, he was so was hung up on the father’s celebration of his little brother’s homecoming that he missed the fact that he was invited to the feast too. Sometimes we are the older brother, mistaking the evidence of grace (the Father’s blessing of others) for grace itself (the Father Himself). Roy challenges us to get off the porch and join the party.
