  • Resident Aliens (1st Peter 4:1-6)
Jon Glock :: Creekside Church :: Sunday, March 12, 2017
    "We believe in God
    And we all need Jesus
    'Cause life is hard
And it might not get easier
    But don't be afraid
    To know who you are..."
    -Amy Grant
Christians can count on suffering, but our identity in Christ means we arm ourselves with the mindset of Him who suffered for us and trusted the will of the Father. Guest speaker Jon Glock from Emmaus Bible College brings a message from 1 Peter 4:1-6 about what seems to the world a strange way to live. Jon reminds us that the redeemed shouldn't live like we used to because we are not what we used to be.

  • Resident Aliens (1st Peter 3:8-22)
Kyle Clarkson :: Creekside Church :: Sunday, March 5, 2017
Where is the greatest life: in the manicured or the scarred? Kyle Clarkson preaches on Peter's exhortation to the church in the midst of service and suffering (1 Peter 3:8-22) and presents a very different view (from our culture's) of what it means to be #blessed. Kyle reminds us of the source of our blessing, what God has already done through His Son Jesus Christ, who is "the reason for the hope that is in you." Kyle's message follows a reminder by Bob Short of Creekside's "vision frame" and an introduction of one of the Creekside's pastor candidates, as well as Mark Kline's introduction of new members at Creekside.

  • Resident Aliens (1 Peter 3:1-7)
Bob Short :: Creekside Church :: Sunday, February 26, 2017
Like a dance, marriage involves hearing the music, knowing the cues and the steps, who is to lead and who is to follow, and how to manage things when toes get stepped on. Following an announcement from Katelyn Short about our Easter Egg Hunt, Bob Short covers 1 Peter 3:1-7, instruction for both partners in marriage. It's true that husbands and wives can feel as they are from different planets, but God created both in His image to have dominion over His creation to be heirs together of the grace of life. Bob closes with some parting words and a reading of Psalm 20 for the Reed family on their last Sunday at Creekside.

  • Resident Aliens (1 Peter 2:18-25)
Nick Reed :: Creekside Church :: Sunday, February 19, 2017
The Holy Spirit enables us to act differently than the world in which we live as resident aliens. Nick Reed preaches his last message at Creekside from 1 Peter 2:18-25 about the hard choices to love God and others, including our enemies, and to live out our faith, even when injustice seems to win. "For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in His steps.”

  • Resident Aliens (1 Peter 2:11-17)
Kyle Clarkson :: Creekside Church :: Sunday, February 12, 2017
"Live as free people, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as God’s slaves.” Kyle Clarkson presents a message from 1 Peter 2:11-17 on freedom, what it brings to our lives, and living selflessly in true freedom. The Biblical view of freedom in verse 16 contrasts to our culture's view well represented in the 90's Soup Dragons hit: "I'm free to do what I want any old time." We desire freedom, but we are all slaves to something. We are truly free when we are slaves to God, who set us free from sin through His Son and servant Jesus.

  • Resident Aliens (1st Peter 2:4-10)
Mark Kline :: Creekside Church :: Sunday, February 5, 2017
You don't need a collar or a coffer to be a priest. Following a missions update before our upcoming quarterly missions offering, Mark Kline continues our 1st Peter series with a message from 2:4-10 and the incredible truth and privilege of the priesthood of every believer in Jesus Christ. Mark teaches about the significance of the temple (the spiritual house whose foundational cornerstone is Christ), the Priesthood (where every believer now has access to God and spiritual gifts to build up the church), and the sacrifices we can offer through praise, generosity, and leading others to Jesus.

  • Resident Aliens (1 Peter 1:22-2:3)
Nick Reed :: Creekside Church :: Sunday, January 29, 2017
Contrary to the humanist notion that people are "basically good", the gospel begins with the reality that our hearts are "desperately wicked." But thank God that's not the end of the story. Nick Reed preaches from 1 Peter 1:22-2:3 about the importance of Scripture in the process of sanctification, a believer's desire to (and struggle in) becoming more like Jesus. As a newborn craves milk to live, we should look to God's Word through His Spirit to change us from the inside out.

  • Resident Aliens (1 Peter 1:13-21)
Alan Crim :: Creekside Church :: Sunday, January 22, 2017
"If we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that we were made for another world." (C.S. Lewis) Preaching from 1 Peter 1:13-21, Alan Crim teaches that the things that give us the most joy leave us wanting more as long as we are "resident aliens", homesick for the day Christ Jesus is revealed. The feeling of homesickness leads to holiness if it begins with filling our minds with the truth of our hope in Christ, and ends with our actions that reflect our identity in Him.

  • Resident Aliens (1 Peter 1:3-12)
Nick Reed :: Creekside Church :: Sunday, January 15, 2017
Hope lives in eternity, but eternity starts now. Nick Reed continues our series on 1 Peter, drawing from 1:3-12 for a lesson on how we let God turn suffering into blessing, not expecting God to change our circumstances but to change us through our circumstances. We can have the abundant life Jesus speaks about when we let Him be everything.

  • Resident Aliens Intro (1 Peter 1:1-2)
Bob Short :: Creekside Church :: Sunday, January 8, 2016
Following a brief interview with Lucas and Lois Richard in preparation the mission field in Liberia, Bob Short introduces "Resident Aliens," our new series on 1st Peter. Christians are residents in a world that should see our hope for another world. Bob uses Peter's introduction (1 Peter 1:1-2) to outline God's work in us, and draws a lesson from the life of Peter, who learned to see God's perspective when he set aside both fishing net and sword to eventually follow Christ whole-heartedly. The service concluded with an important announcement about the Reeds' ministry at Creekside.
