  • Mail from James (1:9-18) The Two Kingdoms
Nick Reed :: Creekside Church :: Sunday, October 21, 2016
Choose you kingdom: "...the rich man (will) fade away in the midst of his pursuits. Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial..." Nick Reed takes us through the trials described in James 1:9-18, challenging us to view money on earth the same as it is viewed in heaven. We also have a call to stand up under trials because Jesus endured, and like His suffering, we have the promise of an end to ours one day. Nick's message follows a prayerful send-off of Pablo and Bethany Calderon to the mission field and an announcement about Operation Christmas Child.

  • Mail from James (1:1-8) Joy, Trails and Muscle Failure
Nick Reed :: Creekside Church :: Sunday, October 16, 2016
“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds..." (From James 1:1-8) Nick Reed begins a new series on the book of James, preaching a view of joy as something greater than happiness, and our identity in Jesus as something greater than our circumstances. Changing our view of trials by looking to the end result changes how we go through it. Nick reminds us that God will use a trial to build our perseverance for the next one, and God is there to give us wisdom if we pray and expect Him to equip us for whatever we endure. We also have the example of the Lord Jesus, who "for the joy set before Him, endured the cross" for our freedom, the end result.

  • Running the Race: What's Hiding in Your Heart?
Mark Kline :: Creekside Church :: Sunday, October 9, 2016
"I have hidden Your word in my heart…" (Psalm 119:11)
Young and old, we can always memorize more scripture, and we know we should. But do we? Mark Kline's message challenges us with the purpose of committing God's word to memory as well as the benefits, including the strengthening of our faith, help in witnessing to and counseling others, a means of God's guidance, a stimulation for meditation, and a supply of spiritual power. Mark also notes Jesus' example in knowing scripture and practical suggestions for how we can get better at it. This is the final message in our Running The Race series.

  • Running the Race: Evangelism (the Miracle)
Nick Reed :: Creekside Church :: Sunday, September 25, 2016
Evangelism is not a one-time event, but a lifestyle—a desire to be a part of what God is doing in the world. Nick Reed preaches to a hundred people about the other hundred empty chairs the room. Evangelism scares us when we are depending on ourselves to reach others, but dependence on the Spirit of God in us should leave no room for fear. A soul raised to a new life in Christ is a miracle of God, and Nick challenges us to an abundant life by praying for those miracles, and for opportunities to be a part of what God is doing by occupying our street for the gospel.

  • Running the Race: Prayer (Who's the Boss?) and Burmese Presentation
Nick Reed :: Creekside Church :: Sunday, September 18, 2016
This bittersweet service began with a presentation in word and music from Karen Baptist Church, the Burmese congregation that has been meeting at Creekside Sunday afternoons for many years, and have now been blessed with a building of their own. Nick Reed's message following that is on the prayer, which should be God-centered, specific, and bold, desiring to align our heart with God's heart instead of the other way around. We are not the boss, but the one who is hears us when we pray according to His will. James 5:16 tells us "the prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective," and Nick reminds us too that for that righteousness, we continually rely on the work of Jesus Christ to run the race.

  • Running the Race: Fueling Up
Bob Short :: Creekside Church :: Sunday, September 11, 2016
Training for godliness has its benefits in this life and the life to come. Bob Short introduces our new sermon series 'Running the Race' with a message on the value of "fueling up" from the word of God as well as a practical approach to making scripture reading a part of our discipleship routine. • Fruit of the Spirit: Self-Control (God & the Prodigal)
Nick Reed :: Creekside Church :: Sunday, September 4, 2016
We are empowered to live out the Fruit of the Spirit as a package to reveal the glory of God. Nick Reed puts a bow on the package with a concluding message in our Fruit of the Spirit series on self-control, and how we use it to keep our top priority at number one. Using Jesus' parable of the Prodigal Son from Luke 15:11-32, Nick explains how a lack of self-control, when we don't find full sufficiency in God our Father, leads to prodigal children. What leads us back is thankfulness and humility. Nick's message follows a brief announcement about our small groups beginning September 18th.

"My God's good, but He's not safe." (Andy Mineo) Gentleness is strength under control, and exercising it takes discipline. Nick Reed preaches on gentleness, something often misunderstood as weakness and hard to manage with a temper, but easier in the true strength of the Holy Spirit and when we realize God has been gentle to us in what Jesus did for us.
