The Calling of Abraham - Part of the 'Big Events' series of Children's Talks.

The greatness of the miracle performed by the Lord Jesus, in the raising of Lazarus from the dead cannot be exaggerated. There are some mighty lessons in this account, not the least of which is the miracle of sinners believing on the Lord Jesus and being raised on the Last Day. Did not Jesus himself say - -I am the resurrection, and the life- he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live--And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this--

The impact of how things change when Christ lays hold upon us.

Any time is time for faith, but what is faith- It can be said to be 'the things that Christian believe', for instance a body of truth. Also, it might be described as 'saving faith' - that supernatural operation of the soul. Likewise, we can say it is - 'continuing persevering faith' - a dominating characteristic in our lives.--The Bible confirms to us that - the just shall live by faith. --A belief- the substance of things hoped for- the evidence of things not seen- a deep and sincere conviction. These and many other things describe faith, it is for instance - hope built on evidence. Christians should believe the Bible, as it is - the storehouse of the very material of faith.

The High Priest was appointed in things pertaining to God. He was the go-between between the people and God. Our Great High Priest, the Lord Jesus Christ is the one who sacrificed Himself through His death on the cross. His blood was shed for us, that we might come to God by Him. Aaron, the first High Priest, had beautiful robes and a golden band about his chest. The Lord Jesus has his perfect righteousness.--Jesus Christ, our Great Hight Priest, is filled with love for His people. He dwells in our hearts by faith. He cares for the churches. His is a love that passes knowledge. He was wise, all knowing, all seeing and full of wisdom.

The Aaronic Priesthood, under the Mosaic Law, was superseded by a new and better priesthood, that of The Lord Jesus Christ, He it was who was made High Priest having been appointed by God, a priest for ever, after the Order of Melchisedec. He was appointed under a new covenant, the Covenant of Grace. In Jesus Christ, God and the law having been satisfied, Christ became our substitute, sacrifice, surety, mediator and intercessor.

In this second consideration of Taking Liberties With Our Liberties, we look more specifically at how the church is obeying Government during this period of national emergency. We consider how that authorities are appointed by God, and that Christians should not normally resist good laws and practices, but should submit to them 'for conscience sake'.----The Christian does however have a right to resist if any authority ceases to do good and plainly goes against the expressed rule of God's word. Christians should not be expected to be a pushover, but our compliance with what is handed down to us by authorities should not be considered weakness. We need to be respectful of authority, and where we can, we should uphold the rule of law, but equally be must be vigilant, and ensure that not even Government 'Takes Liberties with Our Liberties'.

The Son of Man - How can we understand the title that Jesus used most about Himself- Who else was it used to describe- What is it's meaning and relevance for us today-

Woe is unto me, if I preach not the Gospel- So, said the Apostle Paul. Is that not the same for preachers today- It is the preacher's responsibility to preach the Gospel. We may ask, 'what is accomplished by-' We long for conversions in our churches, to see young and older people truly converted. Surely, preaching the Gospel has to be the preacher's priority, pointing people to Jesus Christ, it is that important.
