  • Robert Dugoni and A STEEP PRICE

For NYT bestselling author Robert Dugoni and A STEEP PRICE on Wine Women & Writing Radio with Pamela Fagan Hutchins, we're pulling out the good stuff: the 2014 Harrison Hill from Washington's DeLille Cellars.

Called in to consult after a young woman disappears, Tracy Crosswhite has the uneasy feeling that this is no ordinary missing-persons case. When the body turns up in an abandoned well, Tracy’s suspicions are confirmed. Estranged from her family, the victim had balked at an arranged marriage and had planned to attend graduate school. But someone cut her dreams short.

Solving the mystery behind the murder isn’t Tracy’s only challenge. The detective is keeping a secret of her own: she’s pregnant. And now her biggest fear seems to be coming true when a new detective arrives to replace her. Meanwhile, Tracy’s colleague Vic Fazzio is about to take a fall after his investigation into the murder of a local community activist turns violent and leaves an invaluable witness dead.

Two careers are on the line. And when more deadly secrets emerge, jobs might not be the only things at risk.

  • Lori Roy & THE DISAPPEARING

For 2x-Edgar Winner Lori Roy and THE DISAPPEARING, Wine Women & Writing Radio is tipping back a good Woodford Whiskey in honor of one of her favorite authors, Pat Conroy.

In THE DISAPPEARING, Lori spins a twisted, atmospheric tale about a small Southern town where girls disappear and boys run away. THE DISAPPEARING questions the endurance of family bonds, the dangers of dark rumors and small town gossip, and how sometimes home is the scariest place of all.

  • Claire Cameron & THE LAST NEANDERTHAL

Wine Women & Writing Radio with Pamela Fagan Hutchins welcomes international bestseller Claire Cameron and the haunting, suspenseful, and profoundly moving novel THE LAST NEANDERTHAL which asks us to reconsider all we think we know about what it means to be human. If you prefer the video version, you can watch it here: youtu.be/Yd2vPXR1NbI.

Forty thousand years in the past, the last family of Neanderthals roams the earth. After a crushingly hard winter, their numbers are low, but Girl, the oldest daughter, is just coming of age and her family is determined to travel to the annual meeting place and find her a mate.

But the unforgiving landscape takes its toll, and Girl is left alone to care for Runt, a foundling of unknown origin. As Girl and Runt face the coming winter storms, Girl realizes she has one final chance to save her people, even if it means sacrificing part of herself.

In the modern day, archaeologist Rosamund Gale works well into her pregnancy, racing to excavate newly found Neanderthal artifacts before her baby comes. Linked across the ages by the shared experience of early motherhood, both stories examine the often taboo corners of women's lives.

He tells her his daughter is missing and begs for her help. Is Eddie now working for a dead man? Barely escaping the fire, Eddie wakes in the hospital to find both her parents have arrived on the scene. Will Eddie’s card-counting mother and mob-connected father help or hinder the investigation? • C.C. Hunter and THIS HEART OF MINE

In honor of C.C. Hunter and THIS HEART OF MINE, Wine Women & Writing Radio is serving up a Lewis Wines 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon-Tempranillo from Texas's Newsom Vineyards. NYT-bestseller C.C.—aka Christie Craig—calls this haunting, poignant novel "the book of her heart."

C.C. grew up in Alabama, where she caught lightning bugs, ran barefoot, and regularly rescued potential princes, in the form of Alabama bullfrogs, from her brothers. Today, she's still fascinated with lightning bugs, mostly wears shoes, but has turned her focus to rescuing mammals. She now lives in Texas with her four rescued cats, one dog, and a prince of a husband, who for the record, is so not a frog. When she's not writing, she's reading, spending time with her family, or is shooting things-with a camera, not a gun.
